    In a class of 50 students, 27 like Math and 32 like Biology and every single student has at least
    one liked subject. Answer the following questions using the given. Show solutions.

    a. Construct the Venn diagram of the given problem

    Explantion: We let x = number of the students who like both Math and Biology

    27 – x x 32 – x

    b. How many students like both Math and Biology?


    x = 27 + 32 – 50
    x = 59 – 50
    x=9

    c. How many students like Math alone?


    27 – 9 = 18

    d. How many students like Biology alone?


    32 – 9 = 23

    To justify my answer, let’s check.


    18 + 23 + 9 = 50
