1. What do you think is the role of science and technology in our society today?

The role of science and technology is to make our lives more convenient and improve the quality
of life in society. Science and technology have revolutionized the world we live in, transforming
the way we communicate, work, and interact with one another from healthcare to
transportation. Today in our society, people can easily connect with each other from different
parts of the world through video calls, instant messaging, and social media platforms. The
impact of science and technology on communication has also led to the rise of remote working,
online education especially during the pandemic, and e-commerce. Development of medicines
to cure diseases and help people to prolong their lives and be healthy.

2. Why must STS be offered in an interdisciplinary approach?

The interdisciplinary approach is a method of curricular integration that fosters knowledge of

concepts and topics that bridge disciplinary boundaries, as well as the links between various
academic fields and their linkages to the outside world. STS is broad, and an interdisciplinary
approach is advisable because it requires deeper understanding. It will allow students to
understand the connectedness of each concept and their importance in real life. By using this
approach students can give their personal insights, experiences, and knowledge effectively in
the class as well as to improve their critical thinking.
