BSTM 403 Science, Technology and Society

Instructions: Answer the following questions in no more than seven (7) sentences. Be brief and provide
justifications for your answers. (20 points)

I. What do you think is the role of science and technology in our society today?

- The role of science and technology in our current society is to expand the knowledge and

understanding of something and go beyond in creating innovation and discovery that could

benefit the growth and development of our society. This ensures to create better comfort and

easier life for humanity to prosper on. Science and Technology goes beyond the means of just

simply answering a problem and are able to provide solutions and better results that could solve

problems that can restrict or block the development of a society for decades or century.

II. Why must STS be offered in an interdisciplinary approach?

- Because each and every branches of STS are interconnected with one another. Each branch

specializes in their specific fields like Science is the knowledge of human civilization and their

discoveries, Technology is the application of science in a smart way to ensure to be able to

achieve goals easier, and Society is the connection and human psychology of groups of

individuals and how they behave with each other. Understanding the fundamentals of each

branches ensures that whatever problems occur in the future can be facilitated and provided

cohesive solutions in the ever changing era of the future.
