(The group 5 will start presenting)

Alright very good class!

How did you guess the person that your classmate’s portraying.
Ma’am we describe the action that our classmate do.
Correct, by describing the action that your classmates do, you able to
determine who are they portraying.

In accordance to our lesson, we will learn description as a pattern in writing a

paragraph.

Abstraction

The use of description is also important to help you create a vivid picture of
what you are trying to express through written text.

On your first activity, what you did is an example of a description.

Now, how can you define “description”?

Ma’am, description is giving a mental image of
something experienced.

Okay, what else?

Ma’am it is an act of describing an object based on their

appearance.

Alright, that is all correct, now.

Let us further define it according to some authors.

a. According to Dayagbil & et al, 2016, the use of description plays an

important role to elucidate the nature of people, places and things. A
series of detailed observation about the subject can help you create a
good descriptive paragraph. This involves the use of adjectives and
adverbs in the paragraph.

What is an adjective class?

Ma’am, an adjective is a word that modifies or describes
a noun or pronoun. Adjectives can be used to describe the
qualities of someone or something independently or in
comparison to something else.

For example:
I like old houses.

What is the adjective here?

Old ma’am
Very good, another example,

The boy is tall and skinny.

Tall and skinny.
What is the adjective here?

Okay now, how about an adverb? What is it?

Anyone? Ma’am, adverbs are words that usually modify—that is,
they limit or restrict the meaning of—verbs. They may
also modify adjectives, other adverbs, phrases, or even
entire sentences.

Adverbs usually answer the following:

How, when, where, or to what extent?

For example:

David ran quickly.

Quickly modifies the verb ran and tells how.

Jonathan will leave soon.

Leave ma’am
What is the verb here?

Then answer the question “when”, so, when will Jonathan leave? Soon ma’am

Very good, and that is the adverb of time.

But there are adverbs that you can easily identify, by adding the suffix- ly at
the end of an adjective.
Delightfully
Can you give me an example? Beautifully

Yes ma’am

Did you understand?

Okay, next

3. feels;
4. smells; and
5. tastes.
like are called sensory languages. It also concerns how you will
arrange the details to provide an image of the scene, the person or
the object you are trying to describe in your text.
c. There are two types of description.
 First is objective description, where the writer presents impartial
and actual picture of the subject without biases and excluding
personal impression of the subject just like when you give your
description of an experiment in class.
For example:

Bag
This bag is color black, it is made of leather and it has one pocket in front.

 Second is subjective description, where the writer gives personal

impression of what is observed. This is often used in making fiction
stories. For instance, when you are asked to write about a place you
visit during summer vacation, you tend to give your personal
judgment of how you experience the place.

For example:

Atimonan
Atimonan is a beautiful place, for me it is the best town in terms of food and
delecacies. They have many beautiful tourist spots.

So now, let us try. Ma’am, this note book is color green, it is small and it has
Can you give me the objective description of a notebook. 50 pages.

Catriona Gray is the most beautiful girl for me, she is kind
Very good! How about the subjective description of Catriona gray? and she shows generosity to the children.

Read the paragraphs below. Tell whether the description is subjective

description or objective. 1. Sampaloc Lake is an inactive volcanic maar on the island
of Luzon, the Philippines. It is the largest of the Seven
Lakes of San Pablo, Laguna. Nearly half of the lake's depth
has a shallow depression at the bottom, indicating its
volcanic origin. It is approximately 104 hectares and
3.5kilometer boardwalk. The lake is behind San Pablo City
Capitol and at the foot of the Doña Leonila Park.

objective, how about subjective?

Very good, please read the next paragraph. Pablo. It is where you can bring your friends and loved

around the lake and do ride bicycles not only to have
morning good exercise but also have fresh air. You can
witness the beauty of nature for it is surrounded with
mountains.
