ABSTRACT

This project was conducted for the purpose of testing the potentiality of
Pulverized Golden Apple Snails (Pomacea Canaliculata) locally known as Kuhol as
alternative feed or mash to Fingerling Milkfishes (Chanos Chanos) locally known as
Bangus.

The Golden Apple Snails were collected from the rice fields of Barangay
Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, then were processed to produce
approximately 160 teaspoons of alternative feed. Ten Fingerling Milkfishes with weights
ranging g to g were collected from a fishpond in the same barangay. Two comparable
group designs were adapted - the control group where five fishes were fed with
commercial feed brand X and the experimental group where five fishes were fed with the
alternative feed. The same of amount of feeds were given to every fish which is half a
teaspoon, two times a day. The weights of the fishes were taken before and after the 20
days of the treatment and T-test statistical tool was used to validate the significant
difference of the fishes before and after the treatment and based on the statistical results,
there was significant difference on the mean weights of the two comparable group
designs. The mean (µ) weight of the experimental group is greater than the control group,
27.6g > 24.8g respectively.

We therefore concluded that the Pulverized Golden Apple Snails (Pomacea

Canaliculata) is a potential alternative feed to Milkfishes (Chanos Chanos). This further
disclose that the project is promising, environment – friendly, easy to make, affordable,
and effective.
