Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction

2nd Sem. , School Year 2022-2023

Lesson 2

Activity No. 2

INSTRUCTION: Answer the following questions.

1. Examine the neighbourhood you live in concerning the exposed elements and
vulnerabilities. What may be the areas or groups of people (sectors) who will
become the most vulnerable over the course of ten (10) years? Why will they have
increased disaster risk in comparison to others? Is your family included here? Why
or why not?

Answer:

I reside in a modest Brgy. of Sibacungan in Lambunao, Iloilo, as I was inspecting

my neighborhood, I observed that there were several young children, ages 4 to 3,
who will be young adults in 10 years, as well as those with impairments. Since
small children need the supervision of adults during disasters and persons with
disabilities sometimes go overlooked and left out, their risk of experiencing one is
higher compared to other people. Yes, in ten years some of my family members
will be children and some will be elderly.
