REVETMENT WORK METHOD STATEMENT

1.0 INTRODUCTION

This method statement outlines the basic sequence of work to be carried out for the
proposed revetment work at LIDO Boulevard. It includes shop drawings, working
progress and working method statement.

2.0 ALTERNATIVE DESIGN

According to the geological borehole report, some soft silt existed beneath the seabed
mainly along area of revetment works, of which thickness ranged 1.5~3m and 8~9.5m.
Two types of shop drawings as shown below.

REVETMENT WORK METHOD STATEMENT

Step 1 Filling of Sand Bund to +0m RL

Step 2 Toe Protection Work

Step 3 Filling sand to +3.0m RL, Followed by Revetment Works Simultaneously

Step 1: Soft silt will be extruded from the bottom during the process of filling of sand bund to
+0m RL.
Step 2: Borehole work is executed to check the stability of sand bund, if factor of safety is below
1.2, PVD will be inserted at the slope with 1.1m spacing. Then following toe protection
work.
Step 3: Continuing to filling sand to +3.0m RL, then revetment work to be executed at the slope.

REVETMENT WORK METHOD STATEMENT

4.0 RECLAMATION WORK WITHIN THE SCOPE OF REVETMENT

4.1 Sand filling

(1) Conveyor vessel

Taking consideration of barge draft and height passing under the Second Link bridge,
conveyor vessel proposed for this project shall be capacity from 4,000m3---5,000m3.

(2) Source of sand
Sea sand needed for the reclamation work shall be extracted from Government
approved sand source located off-shore of Teluk Ramunia, Johor Bahru. The location
of the sand source is as shown:

REVETMENT WORK METHOD STATEMENT

3 in 1 conveyor Vessels will be used for the mining/extraction and transportation of

sand from Designated Sand Borrow Area and discharge at LIDO Boulevard site in
Johor Bahru. The conveyor vessels will extract the sand from the sea bed with a
dredge arm (suction tube) over the sand source area. The sand extracted will be stored
in the hopper of the dredger. When fully loaded, the conveyor vessels proceeds to sail
to the reclamation site.
The sand will be discharged at the reclamation area through its conveyor belt direct to
the designated area. One cycle from sand extracting from sand source until finish
discharge is estimated to be 18-20 hours. The duration will depend on the sand
thickness at the sand borrow area, water tide and weather.
3 in 1 conveyor vessels uses a hydraulic suction pump to extract the sand material
from the seabed. During the operation, the conveyor vessels are essentially stationary
equipment which hold their position using anchors. The conveyor vessel when fully
loaded requires water depth of 6-10m, and when empty the vessel requires water
depth of 4-8m depending on vessel capacity. Conveyor vessels can travel
approximately 6-8 Knots with full load, and 10-12 knots when empty. The maximum
dredging depth is 28m. Once the hold/hopper is full with sand, the suction arm is
raised and safely secured, the vessel will commence sailing to the project area.
Once the vessel arrives at the project site, its Master will be directed by a Land
Reclamation Supervisor to the designated discharge area, where the sand will be
discharged through its conveyor belt until the cargo hold is empty.

4.2 Laying of geotextile

Non-woven fabrics adopted in this project, with the specifications of 400g/m2, shall
be spliced and sewed in accordance with the construction requirement and
manufacturer’s instruction.
After the splicing and sewing work is completed, fabrics shall be transported to the
construction site for laying. To avoid the shifting of fabric in water, the upper layer
should be covered by rocks timely during the laying process.

(1) land construction
After the truck is transported to the construction site, the manager instructs the truck
to unload the material to the proposed construction site, and the digging machine
throws the stone on the slope.
