Competency: Create and interpret visual representation of the motion of objects such as
tape charts and motion graphs; S7FE-IIIb-3

Learning Episode 1:

A. Motivation
1. Today, we will create and interpret visual representation of the motion of the
objects such as tape charts and motion graphs.
2. It is important to create and interpret visual representation of the motion of
the objects such as tape charts and motion graphs so that we can easily relate the
topic to our daily experiences when riding a vehicle.
3. You are expected to create and interpret visual representation of the motion of
the objects such as tape charts and motion graphs.

B. Probe and Respond

Review/Drill
a. The teacher will ask the students to differentiate quantities in terms of
magnitude and direction.
i. The ball moving 25 km - - - distance
ii. The car running 50 km, West - - - displacement
iii. The man walking 0.5 m/s - - - speed
iv. The wind moving 110 km/hr, North - - - velocity

Learning Episode 2: Modelling

The teacher shows how to plot the values in the table as points on the graph. Note that
the time is plotted on the x-axis while distance is plotted on the y-axis.
The teacher will model how to interpret the graph created. The teacher will say.

“ The graph shows that as time increases the distance travelled by the ball also
increases.”

Learning Episode 3: Guided Practice

Learning Episode 4: Independent Practice

After creating the graph, each student will interpret the motion of the car.
