IN SCIENCE 7 QUARTER 3
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. define the motion of an object in terms of acceleration;
b. differentiate positive acceleration from deceleration; and
c. solve real life problems of acceleration of an object using the given formula.
III. PROCEDURE
A. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Prayer
Greetings and Reminders
Checking of Attendance
B. REVIEW/ MOTIVATION
Students will be asked to tell something about the topic in the previous
discussion.
The students will define what is velocity and the formula for finding the velocity
based on the previous discussion.
C. PRE-ACTIVITY
Begin the lesson by asking the students if they ever if they have ever ridden on a
roller coaster or been in a car that accelerated quickly. Ask them what it felt like to
go from a standing position to moving quickly.
Explain that today's lesson will be about acceleration, which is a measure of how
quickly something is changing its velocity
D. LESSON PROPER
Explain to the students that acceleration is the rate at which an object's velocity
changes. It is a vector quantity that has both magnitude and direction.
Discuss the difference between positive acceleration and deceleration. And ask the
students the difference between them.
Introduced the SI UNIT for Acceleration which is m/s 2
Demonstrate how to calculate acceleration using the formula a = (v f - vi) / t, where vf
= is the final velocity, vi = is the initial velocity, and t is the time it takes to change
from vi to vf.
Provide the students with practice problems about acceleration for the students to
work through individually or in small groups.
E. POST ACTIVITY
At the end, teacher will check the understanding of the students by asking them to
solve the practice problem on the board. And will ask them how they come up with
their answers.
F. APPLICATION/VALUES INTEGRATION
G. GENERALIZATION
Summarize the key points of the lesson by asking the student the definition of
acceleration in their own words, differentiation of positive acceleration from
deceleration and what is the formula to be used in acceleration.
Ask the students if they have question with regards to their topic today.
IV. EVALUATION
I. Multiple Choice. Choose and write the letter on your paper the correct answer.
1. Which of the following refers to the rate of change in speed or velocity of an object?
a. Velocity
b. Speed
c. Acceleration
d. Displacement
II. Problem Solving. Calculate the acceleration of an object using the GUFSA method.
1. Calculate the acceleration of a young boy riding his bike in a straight line that speeds
up from 0 m/s North to 10 m/s North in 5 seconds.
2. Josh is travelling by his sports car at a constant velocity of 10 m/s West. When he
steps on the gas, it makes the car accelerate forward. Further, past 10 seconds, he
stops the acceleration and continues a constant velocity of 25 m/s West. Calculate
the acceleration of the car.
3. A sprinter accelerates from 4 meters per second East to a speed of 8 meters per
second to the East in 2 seconds. What is the acceleration of the sprinter?
4. A bus accelerates from rest to 18 m/s in 3s. What is its average acceleration?
V. ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT
Short-Response Essay. Answer the following in 2-3 sentences (5pts)
