Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity

1. Preliminary Activity (2 mins.)

May we all stand for the prayer.

Who can lead the prayer?
A student leads the prayer

Good morning, class!

Good Morning, Ma’am !

You may now take your seat.

Thank you, Ma’am.
Let me check the attendance first.
Make sure that you are in your proper
seats so that you will not be marked
absent.

Anyways, who's absent today?

Venice, Kindly take down the absent
students today.

Okay, Ma’am!
Thank you.
2. Developmental Activity
A. Elicit (3 mins.)

In our previous lesson, we discussed

the concept of longitude and latitude
as a means to determine the exact
location of a place on the Earth's
surface. I have prepared a simple
review that will test your knowledge
of longitude and latitude and their
significance in describing the location
of a certain area.

You are only given 10 secs. to answer

on what is asked. Let’s Start!

TEST 1. MULTIPLE CHOICE

1. What are Imaginary lines that run
from the north pole to the south pole
or the vertical lines in the globe are...
Students Possible Answer:

degrees latitude) and run east and separated by a comma.
west, parallel to the equator. Test II
1. NORTHERN MINDANAO
4. AUTONOMOUS REGION IN
MUSLIM MINDANAO

3. Imagine you are planning a hiking trip

with your friends to a remote location,
and you need to write down the
coordinates of the destination for
navigation purposes. In this situation,
what is the correct order to write down
the coordinates?
TEST II: LOCATE ME!
1. WHAT PLACE IS LOCATED IN
COORDINATES 8°N, 125°E?

2. WHAT PLACE IS LOCATED IN

COORDINATES 6°N, 121°E?

Very Good!

B. Engage (7 mins.)

That’s Right! Did you know that

latitude is not just for locating places?

The latitude of a country can have a

big impact on its environment.

Now, I have pictures here. These

illustrations are from different places in the
philippines. I want you to try and guess
where these places are. Is that clear?

Yes, Ma’am!

Okay, Let’s Start!

these? We have here jumbled words as your
hint.

Natural Resources, Ma’am!

That’s Right! These are Natural Resources

and all of those pictures present are resources
abundant in the Philippines.

Kindly read the instructional objectives in the Students are reading the
slide for this will be the aim of our lesson for instructional objectives.
today.
Instructional Objective:
At the end of the lesson, we will be able to;
1. Identify the natural resources found
in the Philippines;
2. Explain how some human actions
affect natural resources;
3. Share ideas on ways to reduce the
effects of human activities on
natural resources through class
discussion.
Did you know that we, in the Philippines, are
very lucky because we have different kinds
of natural resources?

Let's explore them by understanding some

key terms first;
● WATER RESOURCES - the
resources most available for use are
the waters of the oceans, rivers, and
lakes.
● LAND RESOURCES - include all
those features and processes of the
land, which can, in some way, be
used to fulfill certain human needs.
● ROCKS AND MINERALS - It is a
basic component of Earth, providing
the main substance of all but the
innermost layers.
● ENERGY SOURCES - is something
that can produce heat, power life,
move objects, or produce electricity.

Now, In your Araling Panlipunan,

you had already discussed about
“Likas na Yaman”

Do you know what a “likas na yaman” Ang likas na yaman ay tumutukoy sa mga
is? yaman ng ating kalikasan.

Very Good! Natural Resources. Is it

man-made or natural? Why? Natural resources are materials from the Earth
that are used to support life and meet people's
needs. Any natural substance that humans use
can be considered a natural resource.

And also, in Biology, all living

organisms exist because of their
interaction with the resources that earth
provides. For example, us humans
depend on food produced by the land
resources. Same with bees extracting
nectar from flowers.
C. Explore (20 mins.)

To further understand Natural

Resources, let’s have an activity about
how some human actions affect
natural resources.
CLASH OF CLANS:
Waling-waling Edition

CLAN NO.
Activity 2: “FIX AND MATCH: A
Jigsaw Puzzle Challenge”

Objectives
1. Identify the effects of some
human activities on natural
resources.

Materials
● Jigsaw puzzle pieces
● Worksheets
● Cartolina

Procedure
1. Each clan will receive jigsaw puzzle
pieces depicting human activities
impacting natural resources.
2. Start assembling the pieces of the puzzle.
This will give you a structure to work
within and make it easier to see the
overall picture. Do this in 5 minutes.
3. Once you have identified the picture.
Name and describe how these actions
affect natural resources. Answer the table
below with their corresponding answers.

4. When the time is up, each clan

representative shares their solved pictures
in the class and explain their ideas on how
these pictures affect natural resources.
5. Each clan will present their answers in a
creative way. You will be graded based
on a rubric.

D. Explain (12 mins.)

So, based on your presentation.

Specify the human activity and natural
resource that is being affected in the
illustration of Clan 1. ACTIVITY: OCEAN DUMPING
NATURAL RESOURCE:
WATER RESOURCES, Ma’am!
Okay, let’s have some trivia. How much
do you think water is on Earth?
Water covers about 71% of the earth's surface.

That’s Right! Earth, as a whole, is 100%.

If water is 71% of it, how much is the
land?
29% Land, Ma’am!
Correct! What will happen to our water
resources like Maria Cristina falls and
REGS Beach If we keep on throwing EFFECTS: It can lead to the pollution of
garbage and chemicals into the water? water, soil, and air, which can negatively
impact marine life and the entire ecosystem.
How can we help in reducing the cause of WAYS TO REDUCE: Reduce the use of
ocean dumping and oil spills? harmful chemicals, Proper waste disposal,
and Practice conservation, Ma’am!

Now, did you know that the Philippines is

an archipelago because it consists of
thousands of islands?

How many islands do you think are there in

the philippines?
More than 7,641 islands, Ma’am!

Did you know that according to NAMRIA, in

2016, the Philippines comprised 7107 islands.
The latest number of islands, which is
recorded in 2021, is that we already have
7641 islands.

And there are cases where land resources

in these islands are being abused. Indicate
the kind of human activity in the solved
puzzle in Clan 2. ACTIVITY: ILLEGAL

mining? Suggest ways. water resources. It can also cause soil erosion.
WAYS TO REDUCE: Recycling metals,
Decreasing the consumption of products that
require mining activities, and Developing
new mining technologies that are less
harmful to the environment, Ma’am!

That’s Right! Now, Let’s have another trivia!

What do you think class is the hardest
minerals here on Earth?
Diamonds, Ma’am!

That’s Right! Diamonds based on the

hardness scale, talc is the softest and diamond
is the hardest. Diamonds are used for
adornment, and as industrial abrasives for
cutting hard materials.

Now, In the puzzle solved by Clan 4. What

kind of resource or source is fossil fuel? The
human activity you’ve solved in the picture? NATURAL RESOURCES:
ENERGY SOURCES
ACTIVITY: BURNING OF FOSSIL FUELS
Why do you think burning of fossil fuels EFFECTS: Releases greenhouse gasses that
affects our natural resources? contribute to climate change, which can
negatively impact ecosystems, including
What would you recommend to stop the forests, oceans, and wildlife. The extraction of
overuse of burning fossil fuels? fossil fuels can also lead to habitat
destruction, displacement of communities,
and loss of cultural heritage sites.
WAYS TO REDUCE: Using renewable
energy sources, such as solar, wind, and
hydro power, can reduce the reliance on
fossil fuels for energy production.,
Conserving energy, and Carbon capture and
storage, Ma’am!
How much was your electric bill last month? *Answer Varies*
Or as far as you remember?

Some consider electricity as expensive and

others may consider it as cheap but
consuming less energy will lessen the need for
the production of energy. Then, there will be
less carbon dioxide emissions that will
contribute to climate change.
E. Elaborate (10 mins.)

Now, we will be having a gallery

walk inside our classroom and this is
done by the same clans.

Each clan will rotate to the displayed

poster that illustrates the real-life
effects of human activities on natural
resources. Write down some ideas on
ways to reduce the effects of human
activities on natural resources.

After 5 minutes, you will share your

ideas in the class. Is that clear?
Yes, Ma’am!
Let’s Start!
POSTER 1:

POSTER 2:
POSTER 3:

POSTER 4:

If you become a superhero with

superpowers, how will you save our
Ocean? Land? Rocks and minerals?
Energy sources? Students Possible Answers:
POSTER 1: Planting more trees, Educating
people about the importance of natural
resources and their role in sustaining the
environment can help to raise awareness and
promote responsible behavior. This includes
informing people about the impact of their
activities on natural resources, and providing
information on sustainable practices they can
adopt.

POSTER 2: Use renewable energy sources:

Renewable energy sources such as solar,
wind, and hydropower generate electricity
without burning fossil fuels. Switching to
these energy sources can help reduce
greenhouse gas emissions. Support renewable
energy policies.

POSTER 3: Provide alternative livelihoods:

One of the main reasons for kaingin is
poverty. Providing alternative livelihoods,
such as eco-tourism, handicrafts, or
sustainable agriculture, can reduce the need
for people to engage in kaingin.
POSTER 4: Promote sustainable fishing
practices, Provide alternative livelihoods:
Providing alternative livelihoods such as
ecotourism or sustainable aquaculture can
reduce the economic pressure that drives
fishers to engage in cyanide fishing, and
Education and awareness-raising campaigns
can help fishers understand the negative
impacts of cyanide fishing and the benefits of
sustainable fishing practices.

Very Good!

As a whole, Conserving our natural

resources: Water Resources, Land
Resources, Rocks and Minerals, and
Energy Sources are critical to
maintaining the health of our planet
and ensuring a sustainable future for
generations to come.

So do you have any questions or

clarifications?
