SOIL
RESOURCES
Soil resources are a form of
environmental asset providing a range
of ecosystem services.
A key feature of soils is their delivery
supporting services including the
formation of and function of the soil
itself, nutrient cycling, water cycling,
structural support of vegetation and
soil biodiversity.
“ Soil where once rocks.”
2 TYPES OF
WEATHERING
1. Physical Weathering - breaks down
the rock without changing the rock’s
chemical composition
2. Chemical Weathering – breaks the
rock into smaller pieces and change its
chemical composition
ROCKS AND
MINERAL
RESOURCES
A mineral resource is a volume of
rock enriched in one or more
useful materials.
- It is considered to be mineral or
rock mined from the earth and
used in the products we use daily.
