Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Activating Prior Knowledge

Good Morning, Class! Good Morning, Ma’am.

How are you today? We are fine, Ma’am.

May we all stand for the prayer. Who can lead

the prayer? (Student will lead the prayer)

Okay, you may now take your seat.

Before we start the class, a simple house rules (The teacher will read the house rules)
will be imposed all throughout the session.

 Checking of Attendance
Let me check the attendance first. Once I call Check the attendance by calling their names.
your name, say present.

Very Good! Everyone is present. Give yourself

a round of applause class.

Learning Task 1 - REVIEW

 Review of the past lesson
What was our lesson last meeting? Last meeting, we have discussed about the latitude
and longitude in locating places on Earth.
Anyone?

Very Good! We made use of the latitude and

longitude in locating places on Earth. The closer the latitude the is to the equator, the
warmer the climate. The closer it is to the poles, the

latitude of a place and the climate it
experiences?

Excellent! Yes, and it is clear that there is a

relationship between the latitude of a place and
the climate it experiences.

Are there any clarifications/questions in our No Ma’am.

past lesson?

Learning Task 2 - MOTIVATION

If none, let us answer this short activity.
I have here jumble letters and I want you to
identify what natural resources is it. And if you
think you know the answer, just raise your hand
so that you will be acknowledge.

resources? Anyone?
Ex. Air, water, plants, animals, soil, rocks, minerals,
oils (crude oil), and other fossil fuels, sunlight, wind,
etc.
Okay, very good! We consider those things as
natural resources because they are already
available in the nature.

B. Lesson Proper
Learning Task 3 – ACTIVITY

Now class, I have sort of pictures here, and I

will group you into 4. State what kind of natural
resources is it and its importance and then
choose one representative to share your insights
on ways to reduce the effects of human
activities or to conserve the natural resources.
WATER RESOURCES
GROUP 1 (answers may vary)
e.g., turn off water or faucet when not in use, do not
throw the garbage or dead animals in the river, sea,
lake, etc.

SOIL RESOURCES
GROUP 2 (answers may vary)
e.g., preventing of soil loss from erosion or reduced
fertility caused by over usage, acidification, salinization or
other chemical soil contamination, etc.
GROUP 3 ROCKS and MINERAL RESOURCES
(answers may vary)
e.g., reduce wastage in the process of mining, use of
mineral resources in a planned and sustainable manner,
etc.

GROUP 4
ENERGY RESOURCES
(answers may vary)
e.g., use it in moderation or reducing the consumption
of energy by producing or using less of it, turn off the
light/appliances when not in use.
Learning Task 4 – ANALYSIS

Class, what are natural resources? A natural resource is anything that people can use
which comes from nature like land, water, and air.
So now, what kind of natural resources we have
in group 1 again? WATER RESOURCES, ma’am.
Correct. The Philippines is considered rich in
natural resources and is boasts of many
different kinds of natural water forms.
Can you give some examples of water (answers may vary)
resources? Some examples are bays, rivers, lakes, falls, gulfs,
Very Good! straits, sea, and swamps.
Yes, Ma’am.
Water is one of nature’s gift to us. Is water
resources important?
(answers may vary)
Why do you say so? What is the importance of These bodies of water and its surrounding
these water forms? environment not only support the survival of diverse
organisms for food but are also used for other
economic activities.
The presence of water in a specific environment
is said to be accountable for supporting high
biodiversity in that area – for survival.
Biodiversity means the presence various plants
and animal life in a particular habitat.
(draws concept map on the board)
To further understand the importance of water,
let us make a concept map.
SOIL RESOURCES
How about the picture in group 2? What kind of
natural resources is it?

Yes, that is correct. Soil covers the entire Earth. Almost 29% of Earth is land.
How many percent of land comprises the Earth? (71% water)

Very Good! Do you have an idea on how soil is No, Ma’am.

formed?

“Soil where once rocks”. What does this

means?
It means that rocks over a long period of time
becomes soil. Soil is formed when rocks and
other materials near the Earth’s surface are
broken down into smaller and smaller pieces
and becomes soil by a number of processes
collectively called weathering.

The mechanical (physical) weathering and chemical

What are the two types of weathering? weathering.

Very good! These two processes help to decay

or breaks down the rocks together with the
temperature, rainfall, chemical changes, and
biological action act together to continuously
form soil.

Now in group 3, we have what? What resources ROCKS and MINERAL RESOURCES
is it?

Excellent!
Our ancestors lived in caves, and they carved rocks
Did you know that rocks have been by humans
and stones to make tools for hunting animals
for more than 2 million years? Do you have an

idea in what way did they use the rocks?

That is correct. And rocks are being used also

nowadays specially in making roads, buildings,
monuments, and art objects.
And of course, mining in rocks for their metal
content like minerals have been considered one
of the most important factors of human
progress.

What are the minerals that you know? Gold, copper, chromite, platinum, cobalt, iron,
manganese, nickel, sand, limestone, marble, clay,
silica, etc.

Correct! These are the minerals that we have in

our country. And where do we usually used We used it industries, in making jewelries, decorative
these minerals or metals. arts, coins, at home, in making cars, etc.

Yes, indeed.
Mineral deposits can be found were volcanoes
or trenches are present. We have many
volcanoes in the Philippines and most of them
are active.

Can you name some of the famous volcanoes? (Answers may vary) e.g., Mt. Mayon, Mt. Taal, Mt.
Pinatubo, Mt. Kanlaon, Mt. Hibok-Hibok, Mt. Apo,
Mt. Banahaw, etc.

And because of the presence of numerous

volcanoes in our place, our country belongs to
the “Pacific Ring of Fire”.

We have solar energy, geothermal energy, biofuel,

Aside from that we also have ENERGY
wind energy, hydrothermal energy, nuclear energy,
RESOURCES.
and natural gas.
What are some of these energy resources based
on the picture in group 4?

Energy resources are all forms of fuels used in

the modern world, either for heating, generation
of electrical energy, or for other forms of
energy conversion processes. Natural resources are the naturally occurring
materials that are used by living things.
Learning Task 5 – ABSTRACTION

Again, for the recap, what are natural

resources? WATER RESOURCES
SOIL RESOURCES
Very good, that is correct. ROCKS and MINERAL RESOURCES
ENERGY RESOURCES
What are these natural resources again?

Very Good!

Learning Task 6 – APPLICATION

Now class, I will be posting pictures on the
board and then write in your paper the HUMAN ACTIVITIES EFFECTS
