To whom it may concern,

As a secondary educator, it is my intent to provide exceptional education to teen students in any

subject I teach. I intend on providing them with an educational experience that they can think back on
and use continually throughout their lifetime, with not only academic relevance, but also with real life
relevance. I want them to be able to experience learning with minimal (and semi-minor) stakes and
consequences and I want them to be able to experience it themselves through hands-on and theoretical
projects.

As a secondary theatre educator, I intend on providing students with authentic and fulfilling
theatrical opportunities and experiences. I want my students to learn what a professional or higher-level
theatre company is like and have them be proud of the productions they participate in. Although this
would be an ideal outcome, I also want my students to enjoy the experiences they have in my theatre
department and make life-long friends just as I did when I was young.

I also intend on providing my students with a healthy learning environment where they can feel
safe to be themselves, feel comfortable coming to an adult for help, and feel safe to express their
emotions in a healthy manner. At this young age is when teens learn how to deal with new emotions
and experiences, and I intend on being a guide for them as they navigate hormonal and emotional seas.
With my theatrical and educational training, I know some healthy ways of dealing with and expressing
emotions, along with healthy ways of communicating with others when feelings of conflict arise.

It is also within my intentions to create rapport and positive relationships with my students
since that is the best way to reach a student and to help them academically and emotionally/mentally.
Through rapport I am able to help students understand some difficult information, and I am also able to
help them with other issues that may come up, whether it’s with other school subjects (since I am quite
adept at math, English, and Spanish) or life issues.

As part of a team, I intend on being a coworker that people can turn to for help and advice, one
that can be depended on to provide information and activities, and in general a good team player. I
intend on helping my fellow teachers in these increasingly rough times through collaborating on lessons,
providing student information and backgrounds, implementing interventions and assessments, and
actively participating in faculty, PLC, IEP/504, and regional meetings. I intend on helping to create a
positive, productive, and helpful team with those that I work with and keeping the school and classroom
a healthy and professional work environment.

Overall, I intend on being a great educator and a teacher that students can trust, learn from,
look up to, and enjoy. I intend on creating and being part of a great team that is focused on student
learning and growth. I know I have good intentions towards all my students and towards my colleagues
as well and hope to help better all those around me and all those that I interact with.

Sincerely,

Sarah A Eggleston
