COURSE OVERVIEW

Teaching Internship is the capstone or culminating learning experience in

the preparation of future teachers as reflective practitioners and emerging
leaders who conduct themselves ethically and professionally.

This is a one semester full time teaching internship in basic education schools
either in campus or off-campus using a clinical approach under the
mentorship of a cooperating teacher. This teaching internship will provide you
with many opportunities within diverse classroom settings to refine your
knowledge, skills, and dispositions which you have developed in your Teacher
Education Institution (TEI). We hope that this learning experience will play a
vital role to your success as a Professional Teacher. Here are the six phases
of the teaching internship that you have to undergo during this flexible
blended learning environment.

Performance Task 3
Direction: From among the six phases of Teaching Internship, which seems to
be
difficult? Why?

For me, Observation and building relationships are seemed

to be a difficult phase because to build a strong
relationship with your students, you need to know their
culture, belief, interest, and background. In the case of
online teaching, it is difficult because I only see my
students on a computer or in a gadget, so I didn’t know
what their wants or likes and I didn’t even know what kind
of attitude they have inside and outside the classroom.
WRITING MY REFLECTION
Question: How can I enjoy my Teaching Internship to the fullest?

Teaching is one of my dreams since I was a little girl. I

know that I want to pursue a career in the field of education
as a teacher because I want to help people and share my
knowledge with my future students. If you are interested in
teaching or if you really love teaching, even how tiring it is
you will still be enjoying it by seeing the students learn
something new every day, it is a great reward to our hard
work as a teacher. I realize that teaching is a lot of hard
work, but I am willing to give an effort daily so that students
can receive the great education that they deserve.

LEARNING TASK 2:
Doing Observation of Classes, Pre-Observation and
Post-Observation Conferences

Performance Task 1

9
Direction: Observing the teaching-learning process in Flexible Learning and
difference Distance Learning Delivery Modes focusing on the development of
the MELCs and reflecting on these processes. Based on the Pre-Observation
conference with your Cooperating Teacher, complete the matrix based on
your scheduled classes of observation. Take note that your focus of
observation is based on the results of your pre-conference with your
Cooperating Teacher. Make sure that you also need to focus on the
development of MELCs and reflecting on the difference processes. If your
observation is more than a week, please copy the given template.

your task as a Practice Teacher.

Feb. 22, 2023

During the first day I went to Libertad National High School since I meet
personally my cooperating
teacher. She introduce me my first task that time, Monday (February 13, 2023)
and that task was to create a semi-detailed lesson plan that must be submitted on
the next week (February 21, 2023). After I create a semi-detailed lesson plan my
cooperating teacher told me to make a DLP and must be submit on the first week
of March 2023.

11
WRITING MY REFLECTION
Question: After observing the classes of your Cooperating Teacher, do you
think you are now capable of doing and the areas you still need to improve
on?

After observing the classes of my cooperating teacher, I

could see myself as in need lot of improvement to be
capable in teaching or handling the class online. As what
I’ve observed especially in online learning, it is really
challenging and it’s hard sometimes, you need to have lots
of consideration with your learners. In my observation, my
cooperating teacher knows well on how to manage the
learners on how it can be working so well with them.
Though there’s a lot of consideration like some of the
learners can’t focused to the discussion of the teacher, but
with that they could still manage easily the class. And
that’s the thing that I should improve to myself when
teaching online, I need to be considerate especially to the
learners who can't focus to my lessons due to have not
stable internet connection, lots of destructions in their
surroundings and etc.

12
LEARNING TASK 3:
Managing My Classroom Structure and Routines

Performance Task 1
Direction: Observe/assist your Cooperating Teacher. List down some routines
that he/she has done for classes in the learning modality employed to your
Cooperating School to make sure that the class is managed well. Include
some notes or points of improvement which you think will have worked during
the class.

Assignments

Performance Task 2
Direction: During asynchronous or modular class sessions, what routines can
you suggest to the parents so that their children will have more effective
learning outcomes? Design an effective class routine which parents can use
at home.
During face to face class sessions, I would like to advice to the parents to have
time with their kids to teach. Give time for them to teach even if it’s just a short
time. And make the given modules as the basis to their topic that they were
going to discuss with their kids. So by that, they could answer the modules given
by the teacher. But of course let the students’ answer to their module and you
should only be the guidance with them by answering it. With that, you as parents
and teachers will know if the learners are learning.

Performance Task 3
Direction: Read the different situations below and suggest a positive and non-
violent way to address the student’s behavior.
Case No. 1 To help Jacob to be comfortable and
Jacob is a new student in your school. He participating the class, I would help

explain to everyone that if someone
is talking in front they should listen
and if they have something to ask or
if they have questions, they should
raise their hands. So that, the class
will run smoothly without any
disruptions.

WRITING MY REFLECTION
Direction: Complete the statement: Having effective class routines and
sound class structure is important because

Classroom routines help maintain order and also help the kids
stay calm. If there is a set activity for every part of the day, you will be
able to focus more on your teaching and less on giving instructions and
generally controlling the class. This is just one of many reason routines
are important for teachers. Routines are an important part of any child's
life because they help children develop a sense of stability and order as
well as give children the information and experiences necessary to
complete tasks with increasing independence.

LEARNING TASK 4:
Creating Instructional Materials

Performance Task 1

15
Direction: Observe your Cooperating Teacher for five days. List down the
instructional materials or ICT tools that he/she has utilized during the week.
Identify the advantages of the said materials.

out, and there are a number of fun
memory games
that you can use in the classroom to
help kids do
this. ‘Sight words fishing’ involves using
magnetic
fish cut-outs with words on the back of
them.
Students fish using a magnetic rod and
read the
sight word out aloud from the back of the
fish
they’ve picked up. The repetition of the
game helps
the students master the words and is a
lot more fun
than reading words from a printout.

“Snakes and Ladders”

Play the game as you would regularly
play
Snakes & Ladders. But when the player
moves
their game piece to a new spot, they
must read
each word along their path in order to
progress. If they are unable to read one
of the
words, then they stop on that word until
their
next turn.

Performance Task 3
Direction: Visit the website listed below, this contains a list of online teaching
tools that can help facilitate the teaching and learning process. Choose one

take-away. You may list down some advantages and disadvantages of your
chosen tool.

WRITING MY REFLECTION
Question: How do instructional materials and ICT tools help students learn
more effectively and efficiently?
Instructional materials help students by providing the core
information that students will learn, experience, and apply during a
course. They hold the power to either engage or demotivate students.
ICT tools contribute to high quality lessons since they have potential to
increase students’ motivation, connect students to many information
