E. Course Title: The Teacher and the Community, School Culture and Organizational Leadership
F. Course Description: This course focuses on society as a context upon which the schools have been established. Educational Philosophies that are related to society as a foundation of schools
and schooling shall emphasized. Further, principles and theories on school culture and organizational leadership shall be included to prepare prospective teachers
to become school leaders and managers.
G. Credit Units: 3 units
H. Prerequisites: None
I. No. of hours: 3 hours per week/ 54 hours per semester
J. Schedule: 07:00 AM - 08:30 AM MW
K. Consultation hours: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM M
L. Institutional Intended Learning Outcomes/Program Educational Objectives:
 Demonstrate competence on teaching across the different learning areas in elementary education/demonstrate competence on teaching children with special needs/demonstrate
competence in teaching preschool pupils/ demonstrate competence on teaching in one of the learning areas in secondary schools particularly, Mathematics, English, Filipino, Social
Studies, Culture and Arts, or Physical Education.
 Practice professional and ethical acts in the workplace and other human relations;
 Participate in research activities to improve teaching-learning conditions;
 Engage in lifelong learning through graduate and post-graduate studies, and training in the field
 Demonstrate effective organizational communication for sound interpersonal relations; and
 Involve in service-oriented activities in the organization.
M. Program Intended Learning Outcomes

Graduates of Teacher Education program are able to:


 Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, Socio-cultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts;
 Demonstrate mastery of subject matter/discipline;
 Facilitate learning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their environment; 
 Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners;
 Apply skills in the development and utilization of ICT to promote quality, relevant and sustainable educational practices;
 Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning processes and outcomes;
 Practice professional and ethical teaching standards sensitive to the changing local, national, and global realities;
 Pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional growth through varied experiential and field-based opportunities.

1. Articulate the rootedness of education in the philosophical, socio-cultural, historical, legal and political context (CMO 74-83, S. 2017 except CMO 81)
2. Establish school-community partnerships to enrich the learning environment and to strengthen the community’s engagement in the educative process – Domain 6, PPST
3. Link teaching-learning to the experiences, interests and aspirations of the wider school community and other stakeholders – Domain 6, PPST
4. Demonstrate fulfillment of the professional obligation to uphold professional ethics, accountability and transparency – Domain 6, PPST and Program Outcome 6.2.g (CMO 75-82)
5. Promote professional and harmonious relationships with internal (learners, parents, fellow teachers and school head) as well as external stakeholders (local officials, NGO’s, alumni,
and all others in the wider community). – Domain 6, PPST
6. To discuss leadership and management styles that establish a positive school culture for effective shoo performance.

Q. Course Policies
A. Attendance. Students are expected to make every effort to attend class. They are responsible for work missed during excused absences and will have time to make up missed work.
It is students’ responsibility to find out what work they have missed.
B. Class Participation. In class, you will be responsible for asking and answering questions, participating fully in group and class work, and helping the class run smoothly. It is very
