Part 1 Writing:

What were they doing when?

Objective: Write about past events using

vocabulary and time expressions that provide
more details about drawings in a cartoon.

English Use, Grammar and Vocabulary:

● Past simple.

● Past continuous.

● Time expressions.

Requirements:
● The written part must have at least 150 words.

● Use the simple past and past continuous in your answer.

● Be careful with the use of capital letters and punctuation marks.

 Writing

Activity:

1. Look at the cartoon below. Write a story using one or two sentences for each
drawing using the past simple and past continuous. Below are some of the
verbs you should use in your story.

talk - show - look - kiss - smile - drink - have - tell - answer - go - hug

Write here your story about the cartoon (Remember your writing must have at
least 150 words):

The day my girlfriend kissed me for the first time

Last week I was talking with my best friend the cat we had a chat.
Me: I want to conquer the girl who hugged me in the restaurant
Him: he smiles and says that the girl liked to go to the cafe a lot that is left by her
house
Me: do you think it would be a good idea to invite her to a coffee
Him: sure call her and ask her
Me: sure friend thanks

I returned to my house at half past six

i called elsa and i asked her if we could have a date on saturday at five o'clock
she said she would love to go
On the day of the appointment I showed her a photo of my best friend the cat
and that he was the one who gave me the idea of inviting her to the cafe

Her: what a good friend how good what did he do

Me: would you like to be my girlfriend
Her: of course yes

I stare at him, he gave me a kiss and a hug, then I went with my best friend to
drink and celebrate.

Part 2 Speaking:

Objective: Talk about past events using vocabulary and

time expressions that provide more details about you.

English Use, Grammar and Vocabulary:

Speaking

Activity:

1. Complete the following phrases using past simple or past continuous depending
on the sentence.
● I was watching television when I remembered that yesterday I did not go grocery
shopping at seven in the morning with my mother
● My dog was eating bread when he saw my cat started chasing him around the
house
● When my mom came, my uncle called last night and asked for pizza for dinner but I
didn't agree with the sauces
● When my dad answered the phone, my sister freaked out because she thought it was
her boyfriend
● When the teacher opened the door but no one wanted to leave the room yesterday

2. Prepare your answers and record an audio on Vocaroo saying the previous
sentences with the additional information you wrote, be natural and pay attention
to your pronunciation.
