Worksheet No. 2

GLOBALIZATION AND COMMUNICATION

The class will be divided into two teams which will argue for or against the positive
effects of globalization on local society. Each student will be assigned to either the PRO or the
CON group. The PRO Team (Affirmative Side) will argue that globalization has more positive
effects on local society while the CON Team (Negative Side) will argue that globalization has
more negative effects on local society.

RESOLVED, that GLOBALIZATION HAS MORE POSITIVE EFFECTS ON LOCAL

SOCIETY.

Depending on which team you are assigned, write down at least 3 reasons to support
your side.

For me, globalization has more positive effects on local society because:

1. It enables us to access information easily by means of advanced technologies like using our
gadgets and the Internet in getting the information that we want to know and also keeps us
updated on what is happening around the world. As a result, it increases our awareness to the
issues and people around us which we can share with others so that they will be also knowledgeable.

2. Globalization also allows us to learn and understand different cultures, values, and beliefs of
other countries. Through globalization, we can relate, connect, and build relationships with
them. Not just only their culture and beliefs that we get to learn but also about their food, music
music, art, and many more since it is convenient for us now to just search and know about all
the information of these by the use of our phones. Nowadays, most of us are influenced by other
country’s cultures and traditions and we somehow want to experience them and adapt some of them.

3. Lastly, globalization greatly impacts businesses and companies because they will have a bigger
area in marketing and advertising their products to their respective consumers. Also, they will
have the opportunity to find lower-cost materials in producing their products which increases
global competition. As a result, some business decides to lower their prices and create a larger
variety of choices for their consumers. Moreover, global competition drives firms to improve and
innovate their products so that they can offer their consumers better quality products and more
variety as well.
