Social Science • Quarter 4 2022
Course description
We will navigate history thematically instead of chronologically
to emphasize the interconnections of history! The point of this
class is not to simply memorize a bunch of facts about dead
people (you can just google that anytime) but to engage in
content and get those critical thinking skills going that will
help you throughout your entire life. This class will follow the
four major historical critical thinking skills; Contextualize,
Corroborating, Close Reading, Sourcing.

May 6 - Progress Reports/min day
May 31 - All Unit 1 work due
June 6 - All Unit 2 work due
June 8 - Q4 ends/Min Day

April 11 - 15: Spring Break
Late Work, Absentes, and Make up work
● We complete work in class. You will never receive
extra work to take home and complete. HOWEVER if
you do not finish the assigned classwork for the day
you will need to complete it on your own.
● If you are absent it is your responsibility to make up
for the missed work. Absences DO NOT excuse you
from work in class. You must take the initiative to
come to office hours or reach out to get missing
work.
● Late work will be accepted until the respected Unit
due date (see calendars)
Grading Scale
To earn all 5 credits you will need to have a D or higher in the
class. This means 60% and up. If you fail, you will earn partial
credit for what you have completed as listed below.

Failure is the first step to learning, but you must
take responsibility for your actions. You only have
yourself to blame for your success or failure.

Classroom Expectations
1. Be ready to learn every day-READ, WRITE, and THINK.
Always have your chromebook with you.
2. Attendance is taken on a sign in sheet. If you don't
sign you may be marked absent.
3. Be self-disciplined, respectful, stay on top of the
coursework, and be present on a regular basis.

○ Classwork and Assignment Support Center.
4. NO bathrooms during the first or last 10 min of class
(school policy). You must sign in and out and only one
student at a time.
5. Complete assignments. You must receive a stamp by
the end of the day in order to get credit for your
work. No stamp=no credit. Stamps are given when
you complete all items in the agenda for the day
6. Use technology appropriately-Green/red sign
7. Plagiarism will not be tolerated and may result in a
zero on the assignment. Students may not have the
possibility to make up the plagiarized assignment. For

Gradebook
● The gradebook is composed of 2 units which are
broken into 10 topics each worth a ½ credit.
○ These topics are 5-6 days of work
● Stamp calendars
● Reflections
● One assignment each week will be added into the
gradebook. These are usually, but not limited too
○ ACE Paragraphs, Tests, Quizzes, and Projects
