Affirmative structure: subject + verb + complement

Every day, I wake up at 6:00 a.m.


My mom works in the morning.

Negative structure: subject + don't/doesn't + verb + complement


don't se usa para I, you, we, they. doesn't para he, she, it

I don't have a dog.


She doesn't go to the mall on Mondays.

Questions structure: do/does + subject + verb + complement ?


do se usa para I, you, we, they. does para he, she, it

THIRD PERSON
Recordemos que cuando usamos el presente simple al hablar de una
persona u objeto (he/she/it), agregamos una -s al final del verbo.

He eats breakfast at 7 a.m.


My friend takes a shower every day.
My dog plays with me.
En negativo y pregunta,
Andres doesn't go to the university.
NO se agrega la -s porque el
Does he sing pop music? auxiliar does ya la tiene.

Casos especiales
have has
do does Si termina en -ss, -sh, -
watch watches ch, -o, -z se agrega -es.

Si termina en consonante + y
se reemplaza la -y por -ies.

Review
El verbo to be es uno de los más importantes del inglés,
significa ser o estar. En presente se conjuga así:

I AM YO SOY/ESTOY
YOU ARE TÚ ERES/ESTÁS
HE IS ÉL ES/ESTÁ
SHE IS ELLA ES/ESTÁ
IT IS ESO ES/ESTÁ
WE ARE NOSOTROS SOMOS/ESTAMOS
THEY ARE ELLOS SON/ESTÁN

Se utiliza para describir personas, para decir tu edad o


para decir donde está alguien.
Examples:
I am tall and beautiful. 9
I am 9 years old.
I am from Peru.
She is happy.
We are in the park.
Gabriela is at home. I am 9 years old.

Para realizar una pregunta, solamente debes intercambiar el


sujeto con el verbo to be, ejemplo:
Are you happy?
Is she from Colombia?
Are we at school?

Is she from Colombia?

Para utilizar el verb to be en negativo solamente
agregamos un not delante.

Como se puede observar. El not puede
abreviarse con el verb to be en todos los casos
menos para am not.

Examples:
I am not a doctor.
My mom isn't 10 years old.
My friends are not tall.
My dog is not at the supermarket.
I am not from Canada.

PRACTICE
Check the example about how I make a sandwich and then write how you make a
hamburger. (Revisa el ejemplo sobre cómo preparo un sandwich, luego escribe tu ejemplo
sobre cómo tú preparas una hamburguesa).

Example: First, I wash my hands, then, I wash the


vegetables, after that, I cut the bread, later I put the
tomato and cheese on the bread, I add some ketchup
and then I eat my sandwich.

Vocabulario útil: meat (carne), chicken breast (pechuga de pollo), bacon
(tocineta), pan (bread), onion (cebolla), pickles (pepinillos), ketchup (salsa
