Accident Prevention
Emergency Escape Plan

This Emergency Escape Plan has been prepared to take into account
the duties and responsibilities of each individual of the Building
Management, vendors, and tenants involved in an emergency
situation.

It provides a guideline for those involved in any emergency situation in


the building.

Everyone who works in Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition


Centre (MITEC) Building which includes employees of MITEC,
tenants, maintenance staff, contractors and visitors are responsible for
their own safety in any emergency situations when they are in the
building before the arrival of an Emergency Response Team or the
respective authorities like BOMBA, Police, Ambulance and etc., take
over to handle such situations.

In case of fire do not:

1. Take the lift , use only the staircase.


2. Waste time in looking for any valuables (Hand phone, purse….etc.)
3. Open a door with a smoke billowing from the joints.

In case of a fire please do the following :

1. Look for the exit signs.


2. When evacuating the building, be sure to feel doors for heat before
opening them to be sure there is no fire danger on the other side.
3. Break the fire nearest break glass on your way out.
4. If there is smoke in the air, stay low to the ground, especially your head, to
reduce inhalation exposure. Keep on hand on the wall to prevent
disorientation and crawl to the nearest exit.
5. Go to the assembly point area and await further instructions from
emergency personnel.

Accident Prevention

First-aid in MITEC includes the provision of first-aid facilities, services and


personnel required for the initial treatment of persons suffering from injury
or illness at a Center. It is the immediate treatment or care given to a victim
of an accident or sudden illness before qualified health personnel attend to
provide treatment.

The aims of first aid are to:


– Preserve life;
– Prevent illness or injury from becoming worse;
– Reduce pain;
– Promote recovery; and
– Care of unconscious.
