WRITTEN REPORT

The centralized treatment technique is a popular wastewater treatment technology, however it is less
successful in removing harmful chemicals. As a result, a complete examination of wastewater
composition can give critical information for the design of an effective wastewater treatment system
process. This work sought to explore the particle size distribution (PSD), biodegradability, and chemical
content of petrochemical wastewater discharges. This is for this reason for the petrochemical effluent
and treated wastewater of China National Offshore Oil Corporation Zhongjie Petrochemical Co, Ltd were
chosen as the analytical items by the project. To construct the chemical oxygen, the step-by-step filtering
approach was chosen, combined with a molecular weight categorization method. The fingerprints of
petrochemical wastewater's chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD).

Because the percentage of phenols in used wastewater is around it can hinder COD elimination by
normal biological processes at 400 ppm treatment. As a result, the electro-Fenton approach using iron
electrodes (which are inexpensive) was used to minimize COD and sulfid from a spent caustic obtained
from Shazand's olefin unit Petrochemical Corporation (Arak, Iran). (As an oxidant, hydrogen peroxide)
and ferrous ions (as a catalyst) were introduced from the outside. as well as electrodes. Five effective
electro-Fenton process parameters were researched and optimized experimentally and quantitativel
entirely. Design of Box Behnken and Response Surface Methodology (RSM) were used to design the trials
and maximize the results and operational circumstances [7,18]. There are two useful connections for this
class. COD and sulfide removal businesses were discovered.

Another major aspect influencing the electro-Fenton process is response time. Because the oxidation
reaction takes time, COD and sulfide removal increased as reaction time increased. Furthermore, after
the optimum value, the removal decreased as the reaction time increased. This is owing to the huge
amount of hydrogen peroxide produced, which triggers the breakdown of H2O2 to oxygen and water.
Furthermore, the combination of OH radicals reduces the concentration of hydroxyl radicals. The current
density creates metal ions, hydrogen peroxide, and increases the amount of hydroxyl radicals [8,17,30].
It may also produce ferrous ions from ferric ions [31]. The elimination of COD and sulfide increased with
increasing current density from 20 to 58.85 mA/cm2 and between 20 and 55.47 mA/cm2. Additionally,
competitive reactions will be activated.
