You will create a single Report document (may use MS Word). This should be written in a concise,
formal business style using single spacing and font size 12. You are required to make use of
headings, paragraphs and subsections as appropriate, and all work must be supported with
research and referenced using the Harvard referencing system. Please also provide a bibliography
using the Harvard referencing system. The recommended word limit is 4,000 words, although you
will not be penalised for exceeding the total word limit. Your PowerPoint Presentation should
be of 15 min. length and should have proper explanation given in the speaker notes section.

You are required to submit your work for plagiarism checking. No work will be considered if it
contains plagiarism more than the acceptable level defined as per TMUC’s plagiarism policy.

Assignment Brief and Guidance:
National Incubation Centre – NIC is a research group particularly involved in IT oriented researches
and they are keen to give opportunities to new researchers from educational sector.
TMUC and NIC have come up in a collaboration and making TMUC as one of its chapters in Pakistan.
Hence the students of TMUC are automatically eligible to be titled as Junior Researchers for NIC
funded research programs.
During the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic, the importance and significance of remote working
has become evitable. Some organizations already had a culture of remote working but mostly
organizations, in fact, countries, moved to this approach during the lockdowns. Hence, this mass
scale adaptation of this approach has developed number of opportunities as well as concerns in
the existing models that needs to be addressed.
As a student of HND Computing Programme, you are also titled as an Assistant Software Project
Manager and assigned with a computing project related to the theme of “Remote Working”.
In this regard, the Programme Head, has assigned you with following topic related to Remote
Working. You may also select a component of your own choice or you may select any one of the
following components related to Remote Working based on your intended pathway (i.e. Security
or Software Engineering):
1. Identifying and mitigating a security concern in a Remote Working tool.
2. Developing a remote working tool
3. Defining a security protocol for a remote working tool

Guidance:
This will be a formal project and you will be submitting it for panel review at multiple stages
hence, you must ensure that you keep a complete project trail along with all the required
documentation and planning schedules.

You have 16 weeks to complete this project and submit your report to the department for review.
Evaluation:
Your evaluation would be as follows:
1. Selection of Project component from the provided list and identification of Aims and
Objectives: - You will appear in-front of the panel for your project selection by the 3rd
week of your Project.
2. Post-Project Report: - You will appear infront of the panel for your Post-project report by
the 16th Week of your research.
3. Final Evaluation: - You will submit your complete evidence at the end of the semester and
it will be evaluated for final grading.

Research Activities
Part 1 – Project Scope Management (Approx. 1200 Words)
Under this part, while following the project scope management approach, you will identify the
aims and objectives for your project and will develop a formal project plan using an appropriate
project management tool. Your plan must cover the aspects like scope, cost, time, quality, risk,
and resources required for the project with formal identification of main achievement points.
You will follow the proper project management lifecycle approach while developing your project
plan as well as throughout your project.
During your requirement gathering or system evaluation activity, you will use both qualitative
and quantitative research methods to identify requirements for meeting the aims and objectives
of the project, and based on your gathered information, you will evaluate the accuracy and
reliability of the project management and research methodologies used.
After completing this part, you will start working on your project.
Part 2 – Post-Project Report (Approx. 1700 Words)
Once your project is completed, you will be required to analyse the outcomes and present your
recommendations to the panel in form of a report and presentation. Make sure that your
recommendations are based on valid, accurate and meaningful conclusions. You should also
include an evaluation of tools and techniques used at project development stages and their
support for ascertaining the accuracy and authenticity for deriving valid conclusions.
Part 3 – Self Reflection of the Project (Approx. 1000 Words)
Once you have completed and closed the project, you are required to give a self-reflection of the
whole project as to how the project management processes and research skills facilitated you in
meeting aims and objectives, towards your own learning and how it valued towards the
organizational performance.
Furthermore, you will maintain a Log Book for all the activities that you have performed during
the life span of this project and will include it in your evidence for submission.
