ASSIGNMENT SCENARIO AND GUIDANCE

SCENARIO
The National Incubation Centre-NIC is Pakistan’s largest technology incubation centre; the first purpose built creative space in
Pakistan buzzing with innovators, mentors, change-makers and passionate leaders.

NIC has collaborated with ICMS and signed an MOU where students will receive funding for their research projects. NIC wishes
to create research opportunities for new researchers in education sector and hence students of ICMS have been given a chance
to work as junior researchers for NIC.
As a student of Level 4 Pearson (Computing Program), you are also titled as a Software Project Manager and assigned with a
computing project related to the theme of “Remote working”. You are required to participate in the event and complete the
required tasks.

You may select any one of the following topics related to “remote working”:

1. How can employee ‘visibility’ be supported by implementing tools that can automatically monitor employees' at-home use of
networks and applications and send early warning signals or reports of problems? Such technology gives detailed insight into
what issues remote workers encounter when they interact with enterprise systems.
2. What are the different ways organisations can gauge how productive workers are at home, beyond preventing technology
problems? Employees, too, increasingly want their bosses to know how they're performing remotely to ease bosses' minds that
they're using their "unseen time" wisely, or because they feel frustrated about not being recognised for the work they do at
home.
3. What are the key cyber security risks of working remotely e.g. employees downloading unsecure apps or sharing their work
devices with family members?
4. Look at the benefits and challenges of integrating tools for enterprise IT teams, such as integrating third-party products
together.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES AND GUIDANCE

This will be a formal project and you will be submitting it for panel review at multiple stages hence, you must ensure that you
keep a complete project trail along with all the required documentation and planning schedules.

You have 16 weeks to complete this project and submit your report to the department for review.

While following the project planning approach, you will identify the aims and objectives for your project and will develop a
formal project plan using an appropriate project management tool. Your plan must cover the aspects like scope, cost, time,
quality, risk, and resources required for the project with formal identification of main achievement points. You will follow the
proper project management lifecycle approach while developing your project plan as well as throughout your project.

During your requirement gathering or system evaluation activity, you will use both qualitative and quantitative research
methods to identify requirements for meeting the aims and objectives of the project, and based on your gathered information,
you will evaluate the accuracy and reliability of the project management and research methodologies used.

After completing this part, you will start working on your project.

Once your project is completed, you will be required to analyse the outcomes and present your recommendations to the panel
in form of a report and presentation. Make sure that your recommendations are based on valid, accurate and meaningful
conclusions. You should also include an evaluation of tools and techniques used at project development stages.
Once you have analysed and closed the project, you are required to give a self-reflection of the whole project as to how the
project management processes and research skills facilitated you in meeting aims and objectives, towards your own learning
and how it valued towards the organizational performance.

Furthermore, you will maintain a Logbook for all the activities that you have performed during the life span of this project and
will include it in your evidence for submission.

PROJECT EVALUATION
Your project will be evaluated in three stages:

Stage 1: Proposal Defence

Selection of Project Topic from the provided list and identification of Aims and Objectives: - You will appear in-front of the panel
for your project selection by the 3rd week of your Project.

Stage 2: Post-Project Report, MS Project File and Project Output

You will appear in front of the panel for your Post-project report by the 16th Week of your research.
