Learning Competencies and Objectives
At the end of the session the students are expected to:
1. Describe the characteristics of a sound using the concept of wavelength, velocity, and amplitude.
2. Examine sound production in the human voice box, and how pitch, loudness, and the quality of sounds vary
from one person to another;
3. Explore how organisms, produce, transmit, and receive sound of various frequencies (infrasonic, audible, and
ultrasonic).

ELICIT Materials/Assessment Tools

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer & Greetings
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Review/Motivation
Before the start of the lesson, the teacher will a sk the students about the
previous discussion.

ENGAGE Materials/Assessment Tools

Handkerchief, a thing that
The teacher will let the student play something that produces sounds. make noises.
The teacher will ask how student has good hearing
The teacher will inform the students what has to be done in their activity.
Unlocking of difficult terms
 vacuum – an empty space in which there is no air or other gas
 larynx – part of the throat that contains the vocal cords
 frequency – the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit
of time
 audible – loud enough to be heard

EXPLORE Materials/Assessment Tools

In this phase, the teacher will introduce the topic, identify the common characteristic
of sound, and describe the concept of wavelength, velocity, and its amplitude.
 The students then share their ideas about the topic, by how it travels and what
factors affect sound pitches and loudness produced.
EXPLAIN Materials/Assessment Tools

The teacher will assess students and follow up with question until it satisfies the
standard of the learner to acquire the learning concept of the main topic.

ELABORATE () Materials/Assessment Tools

POWERPOINT
The teacher then will present showing the sound level of different sound sources, PRESENTATION
including the characteristics of sounds. (Core topic)
EVALUATE (10 minutes) Materials/Assessment Tools
Quiz Individual Assessment score
EXTEND Materials/Assessment Tools
Activity: Make your own sound! Grouped Assessment score
Role play: Students will be grouped into 3 to create sounds out of material they will
see and produce in the classroom, the theme will be related to how they use sounds in
their everyday living. Guided accordingly by the teacher.
