Read the following conversation in pairs and answer the questions.

Jess You look upset, what’s wrong?

Ann I failed my writing class. I got an E.
Jess Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear that.
Ann I have studied hard. I am sure that I have completed all the
requirements. This is not fair. I deserve a better grade.
Jess Have you talked about this to the department? They have provided
an appeal procedure.
Ann Yes, I have talked about this to one of the faculty members. She has
put my name on the list. She said I have to wait.
Jess All you have to do now is wait. Don’t worry, everything will be fine.
Ann Since meeting Thomas yesterday I do not feel so sure.
Jess What’s the problem?
Ann Thomas said that he has done what I did. And he has received the
new grade. It is still an E.
Jess Really? How come?
Ann No idea. I guess, I am going to take the same class next year.

Answer: you’d better wait patiently for further information and also don’t

the Bandung procedure problem are there, and if there is no change you
will be forced to take the same course next year.
