INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION

- The process and practice of exchanging ideas, information, and feelings


between two or more people.

KEY PARTS OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION

1. SENDER

- Person who initiates the communication and sends the message.

2. MESSAGE

- The information, idea, request, or news communicated between the


sender and the receiver.

3. CHANNEL

- It is the medium through which communication between the sender


and the receiver takes place, such as face-to-face interaction, email, phone
or video call.

4. RECEIVER
- It is the individual or group who receives and interprets the
message.

5. FEEDBACK

- The response or reaction of the receiver to the message.

6. CONTEXT

- Refers to the physical, social, and cultural environment in which


communication occurs.

7. NOISE

- Refers to any distortion that causes differences between the message


sent and received.

TYPES OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION

1. VERBAL COMMUNICATION

- Type of communication that involves using spoken words to convey a


message.

2. WRITTEN COMMUNICATION

- Includes creating messages using written words and symbols.

3. NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION

- Any communication that doesn’t involve written or spoken words.


Instead, it consists of using body language, facial expressions, gestures, eye
contact, tone of voice, posture, and other nonverbal cues to convey messages
or feelings to others.

4. LISTENING

- In interpersonal communication, listening is actively attending to and


interpreting what someone else says to understand the message and respond
appropriately.
