Activity 4: Connecting Ideas

Directions: Now, read each of the three major perspectives in sociology. Then
answer the questions and do the activities that follow.

There are times when other people misinterpret your words and actions.
Why is this so?

There are a lot of meanings in some symbols and actions that’s

why misinterpretation occurs. Some people create their own views or
meanings in our actions and words it’s either a good or bad
interpretation.

What meanings do you attach to the symbols stated in the example?

The meanings that I’ve attached in the example are purity and
commitment. It only shows how wedding must be done. Most of the
themes are white for it signifies the purity of two couples who whole-
heartedly walks in front of God to pronounce their love for each other.

Due to the pandemic, there is now an increase in the

unemployment rate, what do you think should be done to recapture
stability and productivity?

Contractualization or Endo must be stopped as soon as

possible to recover the loss in the economy. Business establishments
also must be re-opened to start over and regain their losses. Lastly,
job qualifications must be appropriate for the position of the
applicants. There are numerous jobs that require a high qualification
requirement, but their offered job and salary are way lower than the
minimum wage.

There are issues that other people oppose such as the ABS-
CBN franchise renewal. Functionalists believe that members of the
society should work together for what is best for the society. Do
you think that the 70 congressmen who were chosen
representatives of their people did a good job? Give your opinion,
but make sure your opinion is based on facts not just on what you
feel. Your facts should clearly support your ideas

Based on the Inquirer.net article, BIR says that ABS-CBN

isn’t a tax delinquent; they have been paying their taxes regularly.
The 70 congressmen who were chosen to be representatives of their
people made the situation worse, not only for the ABS-CBN network
but for the Filipino citizens who relied on their public service. What’s
the point of shutting them down amidst a pandemic where people
are struggling to find a job to feed their families? In that case, they
only add to the burdensomeness of the people instead of focusing
on the COVID-19 response.

There are times that conflicts should be

avoided. There are times also that conflict brings big
changes. There are times that you need a conflict to cut-off
