BASIC ENGLISH TENSES

A. Preface
This module will lead the students to have a knowledge in constructing
English sentences. Basic English Tenses will contain Parts of Speech,
Present Tense, Past Simple and Future Tense. This module might be
simple, yet still very essential to be learned, especially in elevating
students’ speaking skill. After learning some vocabularies in the previous
meeting, students are expected to easily apply the accurate tenses in daily
conversation and understanding the context and purpose of certain words
in English.
This module will be divided into two learning activities used for two
weeks. The first learning material will focus on Parts of Speech. This
lesson will strengthen students’ understanding in formulating a sentence
based on English words’ types and function. The second learning material
will cover English consists of Present Tense, Past Tense and Future
Tense. After learning some words, it is time to go further into learning
sentence.
In getting the optimal learning outcomes, the students are expected to
follow the following stages in learning this module.
a. Read the description section of each learning activity. This stage
is needed, so that the students get the information of each stage
in this module.
b. Practice each step in each learning activity.
c. Work on the exercise according to the instructions. Make sure to
ask your teacher/ facilitator if it is needed.
d. Read the summary provided to grasp essential aspects of each
learning activity.
e. Take the formative test provided to see how far you have
achieved the learning objectives of each learning activity.

f. If you have answered the formative test well, compare your
answers with the key answers provided in the module. If your
score turns out to have reached a level of mastery equal to or
greater than 80%, you are welcome to proceed to the next
learning activity.
