Grammar – The Simple Present Tense

S + V (s/es)
I, You, We, They, danh từ số nhiều + Vo

He, She, It, danh từ số ít + Vs/es


 Spelling rules with he, she, it, danh từ số ít
Add “-s” to most verbs. Ex: works, plays
Add “-es” to verbs that end in “-o, -s, -ch, -x, -sh”
Ex: go → goes relax → relaxes
watch → watches wash → washes
Negative form:

S + do not (don’t) / does not (doesn’t) + Vo

Ex: I don’t go to school on Sunday.

Yes/ No Question: Do / does + S + Vo?

Ex: Does he go to work every day?

Usage: Use the simple present tense to talk about facts (sự thật)

and habitual actions (thói quen) in the present.

Ex: The sun rises in the east.

Grammar – The Present Continuous

S + am / is / are + V-ing

We use the present continuous for:


• Actions in progress now (hành động đang xảy ra ở hiện tại)
• Future plans (dự định trong tương lai gần).

Ex: We’re studying English right now.


Ex: I’m buying a new cell phone tomorrow.
Negative form: S + am / is / are + NOT + V-ing
Ex: We’re not studying computer right now.

Question: Am / is / are + S + V-ing?

Ex: Are you using my tablet?

Ex: They went to Cambodia last year.

We use the Simple Past tense to describe the actions


happened in the past at the definite time.

Adverbs used with Simple Past tense: yesterday, last, ago,

Negative form: S + did not (didn’t) + Vo
Ex: We didn’t play soccer yesterday.
