Internship Discussion

An internship is an assigned learning opportunity that provides

students with useful, practical work linked to their area of study or
career interest. A student can explore and enhance their career while
learning new skills through an internship. It gives the employer the
chance to foster fresh perspectives and vigor in the office, to nurture
talent, and perhaps even to create a conduit for future full-time workers.

Internships are supervised, structured learning experiences in a

professional setting that allow you to gain valuable work experience in a
student’s chosen field of study. In fact, Bukidnon State University-
Kitaotao Campus internships require a maximum of 600 hours (typically,
at least 40 hours per week for 4 months) for both off and on campus.
The internship can be done in a family business, an entrepreneurial
venture, a non-government organization (NGO), a local government unit
(LGU), a business support organization (BSO), a consulting firm, or a
school campus. The internship is meant to expose the student to an
actual organizational setting and enable him or her to work with
management in an effort to address key organizational concerns.

The primary objective of a Bachelor of Science in Business

Administration with a Major in Financial Management internship is to
apply the knowledge learned in school to a real-world setting where the
student will acquire the experience and abilities necessary for a
successful career in the financial sector. During the internship, each
student is allocated two supervisors, namely a site and a department
supervisor respectively. These supervisors are responsible for monitoring
and guiding the interns in the practical attachments. Prior to the
departure of students to the field, they are briefed on the expectations of
the internship programme. Students are given letters of introduction
from the university indicating the activities which they are capable of
handling. The site supervisors are required to fill in an assessment form
they received during a visit by the department supervisor. These forms
aim to give site supervisors a chance to make a general assessment of
the interns, which involves the evaluation of their performance.

Majors in business management are required to finish a portfolio of

research papers, projects, and original works that are submitted in
predetermined fields. The student's progress toward the targeted abilities
and competencies for program graduates is intended to be displayed in
the portfolio. Internship assignments and journals are also part of it.

Therefore, internships are essential in determining one's career

path. Students and recent graduates benefit from it by getting hands-on
experience in the workplace and by developing the skills needed to stand
out in a highly competitive job marketplace. An intern’s life can be
difficult because you only have a short time to leave a lasting impression
on your superiors. It is crucial to make an effort to establish
relationships with people who can offer you advice, support you in future
job searches, and help you develop your decision-making abilities
because being able to operate independently is crucial in the workplace.
Whatever the assignment, you must always put forth your best effort
