1. Are people always an organization’s most valuable asset? Why or why not?

Suppose your
boss asked you to summarize the major people related concerns related to opening an
office in India. What issues would be on your list?
Yes, people are the most valuable assets of an organization since human capital or the
overall ability of a person is the main reason of how an organization function to its utmost
potential and replacing a leaving employee or asset would be harder than getting supplies or
equipment since human capital are intangible. The first on my list would be the Workforce
Diversity since India is a country with diverse culture from language to ethics, these
differences could result for a divided opinion from employees that could collapse the
organization. Second is the Work Attitude wherein, Indians concepts of work ethics follows
western countries though, it is way too lose and lacking in motivation. Furthermore, the
process of creating an operational business in India would take a long time since the
corruption on the country is still high, every procedure would take time and going to be
costly.
2. Name a company you hope to work for someday. What is its track record in terms of
corporate social responsibility and sustainability? Are these factors important to you? Why
or why not?
Riot Games (game developing company) is the company that I dream to work for in the
future, because games is what I am passionate with. Riot Games is known for how it gives
back to the community, they funds bold ideas to make a sustainable impact in the areas of
education, opportunities, and online citizenship across the world. Riot Games has their own
Social Impact Fund that partners up with different foundation that allows for social justice
and help those who cannot help themselves. These factors is the main reason on why do I
want to be part of the company because as the company improves so does its people and the
community that they were able to reach.
3. Will technology eliminate the need for human resource managers?
It does not eliminate the needs for a human resource manager and in a sense,
technology would allow them to flourish and have a less task than natural. HRM is still a
necessary human capital for a business because of what it bring to the table, even if
technology is advanced, we can never expect them to exceed expectations and in
comparison, human can utilize the technology’s 100% percent and produce a 120% out of it.
In terms of HRM, their job can never be replaced since they are responsible in managing the
overall assessment of an employee, their judgment were still required if the technology have
a malfunction or could not completely comprehend an applicant.
4. Do cost-containment pressures work against the effective management of people? Why or
why not?
Yes, it does, since the idea of cost containment pressure is to lessen the overall expense
of the organization and it hinder the ability of an HRM to comply to the needs of people to
completely develop their skill and get them to their full potential, because of that, it also slow
down the development and success of the company.
5. What are the pros and cons of having a more diverse workforce? Is the United States in a
better position to compete globally because of its diverse population?
There are lot of pros on diverse workforce like creative minds, different perspective,
attracting customers, different talents, etc. with that said it also comes with cons like
difficulty on communicating, prejudice, divided opinions, short-term cost delay, etc. U.S. do
actually have an edge because of its diversity, it allows U.S. to reach their product globally
because of it. Furthermore, being able to understand different culture allows an organization
to adapt their company to fit various standard on different country or places.
6. In your opinion, what is the most important role HR managers play?
For me, Human Resource’s most important role is to assess every applicant and
employee with unbiased perspective to help them reach their full potential while still being
fitted to the positions they were given to, Human Resource managers and their judgement
allows an organization to continuously move forward.
