1. What is Dr. Paulo C. Campos contribution in society?

Throughout the 1950s, Campos pursued graduate studies in the United

States, most notably at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the

Harvard Medical School, and the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies'

Medical Division. While at Johns Hopkins, he became interested in nuclear

medicine and completed a training course in the field at Oak Ridge. He was

named the head of the Department of Medicine at the University of the

Philippines two years after his return in 1958, as well as the head of the

department's Research Laboratories. Campos founded the first medical

research laboratory in the Philippines at the U.P. while serving as head of the

Department of Medicine. In the 1960s, the facility was regarded as the

nation's top research laboratory and supported studies in areas like biology,

physiology, and epidemiology.

Nuclear medicine is a field in which Dr. Paulo Campos has excelled. Dr.

Campos has 75 scientific publications to his credit as a health scientist, some

of which have won awards. He received first-place awards for three pieces of

research: (1) Observation on Some Insulin Action Parameters; (2) Cr-51

Tagged Red Cell Studies; and (3) The Genetic Factor in Endemic Goiter. He

received the Gregory Y. Zara Award from the Philippine Association for the

Advancement of Science in 1969 for his research accomplishments. Dr.

Campos is also credited with founding the country's first and most well-known

Radioisotope laboratory, the University of the Philippines's Department of

Medicine's first research laboratory, and the Thyroid Clinic at the UP-PGH

Medical Center.

2. Dr. Paulo C. Campos Discoveries?

Nuclear medicine Campos spearheaded the establishment of the

Philippines' first radionuclide and radioisotope laboratory. The Emilio

Aguinaldo College was established at the Philippine General Hospital with

funding from the International Atomic Energy Agency and other Philippine

institutions.

Campos spearheaded the establishment of the country's first radioisotope

laboratory for nuclear medicine. The laboratory at the Philippine General

Hospital was set up thanks to funding from the International Atomic Energy

Agency and other Philippine organizations. As a result, it was made possible

to perform procedures like the basal metabolism test and radioactive iodine

therapy for the first time in the nation.

Goiter research, At the Philippine General Hospital, Campos contributed to

the establishment of the country's first thyroid clinic in 1960. Campos

conducted extensive research on goiter, a common medical condition in the

Philippines, at the clinic with funding from the IAEA and later the World Health

Organization. His group was the first to recommend injecting iodized oil

(poppyseed oil) into patients with goiter; the WHO later supported this course

of treatment. Campos also investigated whether a genetic component

contributed to the endemic goiter through the thyroid clinic. His research,

which was published in a paper in 1961, suggested that the iodine intake

deficiency thought to be the primary cause of goiter was only one of the

disease's triggers and that physiology and anatomy proved to be more

significant factors because some people are born without the enzyme needed

to absorb trace elements like iodine even if it is present in food and water.

3. What is the story of Paulo C. Campos?

Paulo C. Campos (July 27, 1921 – June 2, 2007) was a Filipino physician

and educator known for his contributions to community health care and

achievements in nuclear medicine, for which he was dubbed "The Father of

Nuclear Medicine in the Philippines." In 1980, he received the rank and title of

National Scientist of the Philippines as the first president of the National

Academy of Science and Technology.

Campos was born on July 27, 1921, in Dasmarinas, Cavite. Jose C.

Campos Jr., Associate Justice of the Philippine Supreme Court, was his

younger brother. Campos enrolled at the University of the Philippines after

graduating as valedictorian of his elementary and high school classes. He

also attended university medical school. He then pursued postgraduate

studies at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Harvard Medical

School, and the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies. He was elected as an

under the management of the Marian Clinics, Inc., headed by Dr. Jose

Fontanilla as principal. In 1959 Dr. Crisanto S. Vito Cruz and Dr. Gregorio T.

Delgado, together with Mrs. Lolita R. Vito Cruz established the 1st Medical

Secretarial School in the country. This was followed by the founding of the

Marian School of Nursing headed by Ms. Carmen Karganilla. Mrs. Julia

Vasquez was the head of the School of Midwifery.

7. EAC Cavite started?

Marian College began building the first school units at Dasmariñas, Cavite

in 1977 to support the government's policy on dispersal and decongestion of

student population in Metro Manila particularly in institutions of higher

learning. The policy also aimed to introduce regional development and the

democratization of opportunities in rural areas.

In September 1977, the name Marian College was changed to General

Emilio Aguinaldo College, to apply to both Manila and Cavite campuses. This

was in consonance with the new direction of the government in recognizing

and honoring national heroes. Eventually, the title “General” was dropped.

On October 21, 1979, the Emilio Aguinaldo College Foundation, Inc was

established at Dasmarinas, Cavite, thus giving birth to the Emilio Aguinaldo

College of Medicine with Dr, Lourdes E. Campos as Dean. In Manila, the

College of Business Administration was given permit to operate, with Mrs.

Judy Arreza as Dean. The following year, March 7, 1980, UPSI formed the
