MAKING A RESERVATION ROLE PLAY

WAITER: Good morning (afternoon, evening, or hello) Thank you for calling Lisboa Grill
Restaurant. My name is ……. How can I help you?
CUSTOMER: Hello (good morning, afternoon, evening). I want to make a reservation for
tonight.
WAITER: Thank you sir (ma ‘man) And what time would you like to make your
reservation?
CUSTOMER: I would like to book for 7:45 PM. Is that, OK?
WAITER: I’m sorry ma ‘man (sir) but we are fully booked at quarter to eight in the
evening. Can I book you for half past 8?
CUSTOMER: You mean 8:30 PM?
WAITER: Yes sir (ma´man). Is that too late for you?
CUSTOMER: It’s a bit late, but that’s ok. Can you book a table for four?
WAITER: Yes, I can. And your name please?
CUSTOMER: My name is Paul Williams (or Margaret Anderson).
WAITER: Very well sir (ma ‘man). Can you please spell your first and last name?
CUSTOMER: Yes. My first name is Paul P-A-U-L and last name Williams W-I-L-L-I-A.M-S
(or Margaret M-A-R-G-A-R-E-T Anderson A-N-D-E-R-S-O-N).
WAITER: Thank you sir (ma ‘man) I have made a reservation for you under Mr. Paul
Williams (Ms. Margaret Anderson) for tonight at half past eight.
CUSTOMER: Thank you.
WAITER: Can I also have a contact number in case I can get you a reservation at an earlier
time?
CUSTOMER: Sure. My cell phone (mobile phone) is ….. 932 700 450
WAITER: Thank you. Your number is 932 700 460, is that correct?
CUSTOMER: No. It’s not correct. It’s a 5 and not a 6. The number should be 932 700 450
WAITER: I’m sorry sir (ma ´man). I just corrected it - 932 700 450, right?
CUSTOMER: Yes. Now it’s correct!
Waiter: Is there anything else I can do for you?
CUSTOMER: No. Everything is fine. I will see you tonight. Bye
