MODULE 2: INTRODUCTION OF CONSTRUCTION DRAWING

ANTHROPOMETRY IN ARCHITECTURE

APPLICATION ACTIVITY:
Based on what you have explored in 2.1 Introduction of Construction Drawings and 2.2
Anthropometry in Architecture; this activity will find out as to how far your progress is from
the earlier discussions. Define the following in an essay form (at least 50 words per item)
1. Civil Drawings
➢ Civil drawing is also called as a site drawing. This type of drawing is used
for construction that will take place on Earth. Furthermore, a civil drawing is
a comprehensive collection of construction design plans contains civil,
architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and occasionally
fire protection drawings. It shows information about grading, landscaping,
or other site details. These drawings are meant to provide a clear image of
everything on a building site.
2. Architectural Drawings
➢ An architectural drawing is sometimes called a blueprint. It is basically a
technical sketch of a home, building, or other construction. In other words,
they are a collection of drawings, diagrams, and blueprints that are used to
design, build, and document buildings. The floor plan was stated to be the
most important part of the architectural plans because it scales and
presents a view of the house from the top, giving the viewer a better idea of
the connections between spaces, dimensions, traffic pattern through the
home, and other features.
3. Structural Drawings
➢ Structural drawings are used to back up architectural designs. It is a
blueprint or collection of plans and details for the construction of a building
or other structure. Structural plan drawings show the foundation, floor, and
roof plan of the building. These plans include details such as the size and
location of the structural elements depicted. They specify the size and
materials to be utilized, as well as the basic requirements for connections.
4. Mechanical Drawings
➢ Mechanical drawing or plan/drafting is used to represent a three-
dimensional object on a two-dimensional piece of drawing paper. It show
specific details of certain components within the mechanical system. They
provide an accurate depiction of the item and display all sections in their
correct size relationship. Mechanical plans also include a legend and a list
of acronyms.
5. Plumbing Drawings
➢ A plumbing drawing is a sort of technical drawing that offers a visual
representation and information about a plumbing system for both fresh
water entering the building and waste leaving the structure, both solid and
liquid. A plumbing design depicts how fresh water will be brought into a
building and waste water will be removed. It's also used to show the distinct
hot and cold water supplies.
6. Electrical Drawing
➢ Electrical drawings, often known as wiring diagrams, are a form of technical
drawing that provides a graphical depiction of electrical systems or circuits.
They are used to describe the design to electricians or other personnel who
will be installing or repairing electrical systems. In addition, it shows
information about power, lighting, and communication for an engineering or
architectural drawing.
7. Fire Protections Drawings
➢ A fire protection plan or drawing is a drawing that is utilized to provide
conceptual information to a qualified fire protection contractor to
diagrammatically show potential system arrangement. The fire protection
equipment and device locations are only for reference. Fire protection plan
helps study and practice of mitigating the unwanted effects of potentially
destructive fires.
8. Anthropometry and its importance
➢ The dimensions and capacities of human mobility have a significant role in
the overall design of the structure. Anthropometric measurements play a
significant role in improving building design construction. The systematic
measuring of the physical characteristics of the human body is known as
anthropometry. These measures are used in the design of architecture,
furniture, tools, automobiles, clothing, and other items to fit the human body.
Anthropometrics' fundamental premise is that building design must be
properly suited to meet the proportions of the human body as well as human
movement.
