Informative Speech Evaluation Rubric

Introduction- 20 points __The speaker grabbed the audience’s attention at the beginning of the presentation.
__The speaker explained the purpose and thesis of the speech.
__The speaker adequately explained his/her credibility and connected relationally to the audience.
__The speaker provided relevant information to orient the audience to the topic.
__The speaker convincingly explained the importance of the topic and the speech.
__The speaker provided an enumerated preview of main points.
Body- 20 points __The main points were clear, understandable, and directly supported the main idea.
__The main points were developed with adequate and credible evidence and support material.
__The main points were relatively equal in their development and their importance.
__The speaker provided oral transitions that fully guided the audience.
__The speaker’s language was appropriate and enabled him/her to connect with the audience.
__The speaker provided effective oral citations of the sources.
Conclusion- 10 points __The speaker indicated the beginning of the conclusion through an appropriate wrap-up signal.
__The speaker reinforced the central idea of the presentation by restating the thesis.
__The speaker provided a complete summary of the main points
__The speaker motivated the audience.
__The speaker ended strongly and smoothly with an effective statement.
Delivery- 40 points __The speaker maintained at least 85% eye contact throughout the presentation
