III. PROCEDURE:

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Prayer
Everybody stand, let us pray. Jonah, (Student will stand)
will you please lead the prayer?

In the name of the Father, of the son, and of Amen…….

the Holy Spirit……Amen.

B. Greetings
Good Afternoon, class! Good Afternoon, Teacher, Good Afternoon
classmates.

How are you doing today? Feeling good teacher

Did you eat your lunch? Yes, Teacher!
Did you brush your teeth? Yes, Teacher!

That’s good to hear, very well!

(Checking of attendance)
Say present if I call your name. (Everyone is present)

I am very happy that no one is absent

today.

Before we proceed to our lesson, kindly please (Student will read the classroom rules)
read our classroom rules during our discussion.
Yes teacher
Class, are we clear?
None teacher
Do you have an assignment?

C. Review
Identifying polygons
Before we start our lesson, let us first recall,
what was our last topic all about?
Polygons is a closed figure formed by three
Who can tell me what is a polygon? or more straight line segments

(Student will name each polygons)

I have here a picture of a polygons, can
you name each polygons? (Show a picture
of a polygons) Triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon,
heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon.
Again, what are the different kinds of polygons? Students will participate

You are all correct! Give yourselves a “ Darna

clap” None Teacher!

Are there any questions about our previous

topic?

D. Motivation

I have here objects class, can you identify

what are these objects?

Triangular ruler

Ruler

A slice of pizza
pizza

Sandwiches

A sandwich

Hanger

That is a hanger

Chips teacher
Chips
-They are all triangular in shape
- they all have 3 sides

From the objects that I’ve shown to you, what

have you notice? No teacher! Because some of them differ in
measurement of sides and angles.
Very good!
They are all triangular in shape and they all have
3 sides

But are all triangles the same class?

Why do you say so?

Very good class, all of your answers are correct!

E. Lesson Proper
(Presentation of the lesson) Teacher, a triangle is a polygon

In connection to that, today we are going to A polygon is a closed figure formed by three
discuss about kinds of triangles according to or more straight line segments.
sides and angles.

Class, do you know what a triangle is?

What is a polygon, class?

Very good!

A triangle is a polygon with three vertices and

three sides which are straight line segment.

(Students will listen to the discussion)

F. Discussion

Triangles can also be classified according to

sides and angles.

Let’s start with the kinds of triangles according

to sides.
EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE

A triangle with three equal sides.

If we will use a ruler to measure the sides of the

triangle, you will notice that each sides have the
same measurement.

// these symbols are used to mark parts of a

figure.
When parts of the same or different figures are
mark using the same symbols that mean, those
parts have equal measurement or congruent.

ISOSCLES TRIANGLES

2 equal sides teacher

A triangle with two equal sides.

If we will measure the triangle using a ruler, you

will notice that they have two equal sides.

These examples of a triangle are isosceles

triangle, because they have, how many sides
lovelyn?

Very good!

SCALENE TRIANGLE
Because they don’t have the same
measurements, they have different
measurements teacher

A Scalene triangle is a triangle with no equal

sides.

If we will measure it using a ruler, you will notice

that each side have different measurements.

The examples above are all scalene triangle.

Why is it called a scalene triangle ethel?

Kinds of triangle According to Angles

RIGHT TRIANGLE

A right triangle is a triangle with a right Because it measures exactly 90° teacher
angle or an angle which measures 90°

This time we will use a protractor to

measure the angle of the triangle, as you
can see in this example, 1 of the angle of
this triangle measures exactly 90°

(This means that the triangle is a right

triangle)

Again, why is it called a right triangle

same?

VERY GOOD SAM!

ACUTE TRIANGLE
It measures less than 90° teacher

An acute triangle is a triangle which has

three acute angles or angles which
measures less than 90°

Triangles presented are all acute triangle,

why is it called acute triangle class? Does it
measure exactly 90° or it measures less
than 90°?

OBTUSE TRIANGLE

it measures greater than 90° teacher

An obtuse triangle is a triangle with an

obtuse angle, which measures greater
than
90°
As you can see using this protractor, we
measure 1 part of this angle and it measure
higher than 90°

Which means the triangle that I presented

to you is an obtuse triangle.

What is the measurement of an obtuse

triangle daphney?

EQUIANGULAR TRIANGLE Yes teacher, equiangular triangle is the same

as equilateral triangle because they have the
same measurements

An equiangular triangle is a triangle with

three angles, each measuring 60° and
equiangular triangle is actually a special
kind of an acute triangles

If you would notice measuring this triangle

using our protractor, each angles measure
exactly 60°

Now class, Is equiangular triangle the same

with equilateral triangle?
Yes teacher!

Yes, you’re right they are the same

because they have a same measurement
in sides and lengths

note that the total measurement of the

three angles of the triangles is always Equilateral triangle(sides)
equals to 180°

G. Activities

Now, let’s see if you can now classify the kinds

of triangles according to its sides and angles.

We’re going to play a game, this game is called

“stand up or sit down” I will show you a picture of Right triangle(angles)
a triangles and all you need to do is to classify if
it is a kind of triangle according to sides or angle,
if it is a kind of triangle according to side you will
stand up and if it is a triangle according to angle
you will sit down.

Acute triangle(angles)
Do you understand class?
Okay, now let’s do it!

1.
Equiangular triangle(angles)

2.

Scalene triangle(sides)

3.

Isosceles triangle(sides)

4.

(students will participate in group activity)

5.

6.

Let’s have another activity, group

yourselves into two.

Count 1 to 2 then the group 1 will be on the right

side, while the group 2 will be on the left side.
I will give each groups a different kinds of activity

GROUP 1 (color, cut and sort)

Instruction:
 Color the triangles according to sides
(Equilateral-red, isosceles-yellow,
(Students will raise their hands)
scalene-purple)
 Cut and sort the triangles

RUBRICS:
Colored completely, no white space-3
Cut out the triangles accurately and neatly-2
Student sorted all triangles and could justify why
each went its respective category of the triangle
sides-5 Triangles are effective tools for architecture
total of :10 points and are used in the design of building and
other structures as they provide strengths
GROUP 2 (you know me) and stability
Instruction:
 Identify the different kinds according to its
angle by filling in the blank the missing
words of the statement

RUBRICS:

Had a complete understanding of a topic-5

accuracy-3
cooperation-2
total points: 10 points

good job class! You all did well! It means that

you really understand our lesson today.

Let us give ourselves a “Jollibee clap”

H. Generalization

I know that you’ve learned a lot from our

discussion, so anyone who can tell me
what is a triangle?

What are the classification of triangles

according to sides?

How about the classification of triangles

according to angles?

Since we’re talking about triangles, where

can we apply these concepts in real life?

Exactly, good point!

Triangles are also considered as a strongest

shape; in life we also need to be strong and have
strengths to have stability in life. Life gets tough,
but we should Be strong, be fearless, be
beautiful and believe that we can surpass all of
the obstacles.
IV. Evaluation
Classify each picture by putting a check in the box if it shows the different
kinds of triangles according to sides and angles
