THE CAUSES OF DISTRESS OF THE PHILIPPINES

PRESENT
1. For the current basic education system, it
can be said that it has improved but it
doesn’t improve the student in terms of
skills and ability for them to develop
themselves. They are not taught the
important lessons that are useful (basic tax
computation, basic entrepreneurship).
These lessons will not only help Filipinos
but also the Philippines for the economy
to keep moving.
2. Changing government personnel and
replacing them with the same class of
people is no good help. Nowadays, you
cannot enter a government office without
a backer (mostly). With this, the nepotism
continues without giving chance to others
to change the system for the betterment of
the citizens.
3. Indigenous people are still discriminated
against when running for positions. As per
observation and experience, most of the
people in Baguio City Hall were from the
lowlands. There are Igorots but Igorots
have a narrow chance of landing a job in
the LGU since nepotism works in this
kind of field and job.
4. With the exploitation of our natural
resources by the colonizers, we now are
not like our ancestors before. With the
laws that protect the natural minerals of
the country, with the people who are
willing to fight. However, mining by big
companies is really a problem since laws
and regulation does not work on them
especially for indigenous people since
they want to preserve their place and not
to be exploited and be damaged.
5. The Internet is now accessible especially
for people in urban areas and developed
rural areas. With the internet, you can now
have the information you want, data you
need, and curiosity to be answered. With
the help of the internet, one can now
access information they need for them to
have additional knowledge, make their

own business, and learn how to manage

their finances thru virtual assistants who
are experts on their own areas.
