1. Overview

1.1. REDUCE POVERTY, IMPLEMENT A

Program/Project Proposal STRATEGY:
Title The Urban Poor Project

1.2. Short Description of the The project proposed to mobilized the urban poor community to
Proposal transform their livelihood by embracing diverse activities.
In making this project happen, the group would like to
collaborate with the Non-Government Organizations such as
Angat Buhay Foundation, Community Organizers Multiversity,
Foundation for Development Alternatives, etc.

1.3. Objective The main objective of this project is to alleviate poverty by

Statement providing assistance the Philippine government in offering
financial assistance and to improving the standard of living of
poor communities in urban areas, specifically:

1. To enhance the living conditions of low-income urban residents

harmed by the flood.
2. To assist and revive urban poor communities affected by the
flood.
3. To improve the living quality and basic infrastructure for
communities.
4. To improve the economic opportunities of low-income people.

2. Rationale
2.1. Significance of
the Proposal P Some of the common observations, poor people especially
children in their schools and universities, they struggle in
providing the requirements of the universities such as
uniform, notebooks, bag, and more. In the city of Manila,
there are a lot of beggars who approach cars and asking for
money, using their children and faking that they are ill just
to get money from people who are in the middle class.
According to a study, These unexpected and quick
immigration caused urban upheavals in Manila's ancient
districts of Binondo, Quiapo, and Intramuros. Quiapo,
which is an important part of inner-city areas in Manila,
turned into a slum with the effect of migration from the
Visayas and Mindanao Island, after the 1950s while it was
a district where political elites and wealthy lived until the
1930s. Between the 1950s and the 1980s, Quiapo's cultural
identity and economic structure evolved gradually. By the
1980s, the district began to be associated with crime and
poverty. While migration caused disruption in inner-city
areas, it also reduced the value of urban land and structures
on the one hand.
J There were many causes and effects that occurred in the
given situations, which could be the cause of the outcome.
There may be toxic Filipino beliefs such as having many
children will alleviate their poverty status and their children
are obligated to alleviate them, the education system in the
Philippines can be a major reason why there is a high rate
of poverty in the country because people may be unaware
of the consequences of their actions, and lastly, the
periphrastically response of the Philippine Government for
the Filipino people. The team would like to assist poor
people in need by providing them with healthcare, housing,
education, shelter, and, most importantly, food. By doing
so, the team would be collaborating with another
organization that has a history of assisting the poor.
