Running Head: UNNECESSARY PLASTIC BOTTLES TO PLANT
VASES
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Problem
Microplastics (tiny plastic particles) breakdown and embed
themselves in our food chain as they are ingested by marine life-
threatening larger ecosystems and consequently, human health.
Though plastic bottles are convenient and sometimes necessary
for clean water in rural areas, lack of government oversight has
lead to the proliferation of plastic disposables and it has
become an industry that has produced over 8.3 billion metric
tons of plastic in the last 6 decades, of which 6.3 billion tons has
become plastic waste.Despite the fact that water bottles often
ring in at two or three dollars a piece – a high upcharge for
something most can get for free – bottled water is still
perceived as the ‘cleanest’ way to drink water. This
overconsumption of plastic has led to excessive waste caused
by littering, poor recycling programs, and landfill spillover which
some scientists predict will become as serious a problem as
climate change. Plant Vases are a solution. A vase or a planter
are excellent allies for a fresh,
colorful and fragrant home. And it
decreases plastic pollution.

Conceptual Framework
A plastic container recycled to make a home for a plant in need.
An advantage to this method over a normal pot is that you can
see the roots of the plant when they get too big, so you know
when it needs more space. In order to produce a Plant Vases,
Masking tape, Scissor, Glue, Empty Plastic Bottle (any size),
Plant and Soil are the materials needed.

Review of Related Literature
When you recycle plastic water bottles, you can
lower the amount of waste that contributes to landfills. In
fact, nearly 7.4 cubic yards of space in landfill space is
reduced for every ton of plastic that's recycled. Also,
recycling your plastic bottles can prevent them ending up
in the ocean and roadways as well.
According to (John Papiewski) Plastic materials are
easy to mold into a wide variety of bottle shapes,
improving their appearance and utility. For example,
manufacturers incorporate integral handles,
measurement marks and pouring lips into some types of
plastic bottles. In addition, plastics can range from
crystal clear to any shade or color, whether translucent or

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter includes the description of the research
design, sampling and participants, instrumentation, data
collection procedures and data analysis.
Research Design
This is a triangulation study that will use the
experimental design. Because one or more variable will
be modified to assess their effect on dependent variables,
the study specific researcher design is experimental
research. It is also important to know what variables
researcher want to test and measure. Experimental
resesrch is important because it deals with scientific
method through which hypothesis will be tested and
developed.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS,
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
This chapter includes the summary of the research. Marjor
findings, conclusion and recommendations are discussed
and interpreted. The advantages of using plastic bottles to build
a plant vases are determined.
Recommendation of this researcg is at the end of the chapter.
Findings
Based on the data gathered presented in the table 2nd and
4th statement got the highest mean of 3.56 which stands for the
products functionality and eco-friendly. The 3rd statement which
is product design got the lowest mean of 3.08. The overall mean
of the statement is 3.45.
Before statements are the respondents mostly positive insights
about the concept of plant vases out of plastic bottles.
