engines just are started by pressin a button and they r rotating at high speed, any mistake
shall be a major trouble.

(Safety I knew I was nt getting it as I got stuck wid certificate cross questions and sir gave
me time to think too. Motor I cldnt get because of skipped things in generator manual

orals.

Coffin plate. Why it is called coffin plate

I told coffin plate is basically used to connect the Stern frame to the flate plate keel.

Why it is called so?

Bcoz Stern frame connection to the fat plate keep gives it a coffin like look.

In ancient time when they used to make boat with woods. The aft design was like head
side of coffin. From there it comes and we are using this term.

1. Your ME is running normally and suddenly stopped. Reasons? After this asked me the
trips and safeties relating to the ME.
2. How to do bottom blowdown?

3. How to do scum blowdown? Tell me the condition and criteria for it.

4. Properties of fuel oil stored onboard. Tell me the value of flash point.

5. Type of the boilers. Confusing a lot saying tell the main one, the exhaust one and at the
end said I want to know the auxiliary one. Confused a lot.

After all this Anil Deswal got connected.

6. Still Subbarao was asking me the FO properties. Wanted to know the values.

7. Anil asked about the fuel oil leak off alarm, posn, where it is going to.

8. LO test and how to know there is leak of water in the sump.

QUES: Why we keep disel (settling & service tank) beside HFO tanks.

ANS: HFO tank temperature is around 80-90C , by keeping it near the diesel tank
temperature will come to about 35°c ....by radiation . So during winter season or in cold
regions.... We can take start the engine very easily on diesel.

Steam Injection method. Clear all pipes by blowing through and check for proper
operation of valves

Used to vent out combustion space of remaining exhaust, moisture, water vapour. So
basically a safety

Helps to get an idea about the presence of excess water on cylinder head. Rise in
amperage seen at the turning gear motor

When running constantly receives engine pressure and so used to get indicator diagrams

Why flat belt not used in purifier

he was confusing it was flat belt only because

Flat belts have only a small cross-section which makes them very flexible and requires no
wedging in and pulling out from grooves. Together with the smooth operation and the
absence of wedging effects, there is a negligible energy loss. The efficiency is hence high:
More than 98%. Thin and light flat belts also allow high belt speeds.

Ans: Bhai safematic mein he wanted to hear about automatic isolation valve function and
leakage in hydraulic pipeline (this was told by meena sir) I couldn't explain it properly

ques: what will be your action when oiler comes and report to you about ER flooding in ur

flooding mein be specific of the actions that u will take

1) you will press engineer call alarm

2) go n look for the source of flooding and take action accordingly

If pump is leaking then start standby pump and start bilge pump n transfer it to bilge
holding tank

If water is still not coming down then use emergency bilge suction
