a. define and differentiate between the elements of movements in space;
b. identify and perform basic movements using the elements of space; and
c. create and perform a short movement sequence that utilizes the
elements of space

II. LEARNING CONTENT

III. LEARNING PROCEDURE
ENGAGE Begin by asking the students if they have ever watched a dance performance
or a sports game that involves movement. Ask them to describe the types of
movements they observed and how they were performed.

EXPLORE Introduce the concept of movements in space and the four elements of space:
1. Pathway - the route or direction of movement
2. Level - the height at which movement occurs
3. Size - the magnitude of movement
4. Focus - the point of interest or emphasis during movement
Display signs or pictures that represent each element and have the students
practice basic movements using the elements of space. For example, have the
students walk or skip in a zigzag pathway, jump at different levels, or make
large and small arm circles while focusing on different points in space.

EXPLAIN After exploring the different elements of space, explain to the students how
these elements can be used to create dynamic and expressive movements.
Discuss how movements can communicate emotions, ideas, and stories
through the manipulation of space. Give the students more examples of how to
use the elements of space in movement.

ELABORATE Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a theme or story to
base their movement sequence on. Provide the groups with time to brainstorm
and choreograph a short movement sequence that utilizes the elements of
space. Encourage them to be creative and use the elements of space to convey
their ideas and emotions. Have the groups perform their sequences for the
class or record them for later evaluation.
IV. EVALUATION
As an evaluation activity, have the students reflect on their performance and identify how they used the
elements of space in their movement sequence. Ask them to identify the most challenging element to
incorporate and how they overcame this challenge.

V. LEARNING AGREEMENT
As an extension activity, have the students watch a dance performance or sports game and identify how
the elements of space are utilized by the performers. They can write a reflection or create a short video
analysis of the movements observed in the performance.
