LEARNING PLAN IN SCIENCE 6

Teacher: Jubele Ann R. De Roma Quarter: First Quarter

Grade and Section: Grade 6 – Loyalty Duration: 50 minutes
Week: 6 Date: Sept. 26 – Sept. 30, 2022

DAY 1

MELCs:
Describe the appearance and uses of homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures (S6MT-Ia-c-1).

Vision, Mission and Core Values Integration

Matter is important because it makes up everything around us and matter cannot be created or destroyed
but instead, they just transformed into a different form. Just like in teaching, we aim to transform the learning
into a better form so they can be equipped and become a lifelong learner.

INTRODUCTION PHASE

I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. Recognize heterogeneous mixtures; and
2. Describe the appearance and uses of heterogeneous mixtures; and
3. Differentiate mixtures as solutions, suspensions, and colloids.

II. Learning Content

 Heterogeneous Mixtures: Suspensions and Colloids

III. Learning Resources

 Guipper Study Guide Unit 1, PowerPoint presentation.

IV. Procedures

A. Motivation
 Recall the topic that was discussed recently.
 The teacher will ask the students some questions about the previous lesson.
Questions:
1. What are the different types of mixtures?
2. How are these types different from each other?
3. What is the dispersing medium in a solution?
4. What the component with less amount in a solution. It is also the substance being dissolved?

Presentation of the Lesson

 The teacher will use inquiry-based approach where the students should recognize the heterogenous
mixture and the colloid and suspension that belongs to the said mixture.

INTERACTION PHASE

B. Discussion and Valuing Questions

 The teacher will proceed to question-and-answer portion.
1. How do you differentiate heterogeneous mixtures among the types of mixtures?
2. How can you define Brownian Movement? Can you give an example?
3. Can you give a situation where the Tyndall effect can be observed?
4. How can the Tyndall effect be useful?
5. What are other uses or applications of the Tyndall effect?

6. After you washed your hands in the sink. You pumped the liquid soap dispenser only to discover
that instead of a liquid, foam was supplied. How will you describe the soap before and after
dispensing it?
INTEGRATION PHASE

V. Closure
 The teacher will facilitate and guide the learners in forming their own generalization by completing
the probing prompt questions.
 Today, I have learned that …..
VI. Summative Assessment
 The teacher will give a short quiz to the students.

Directions: Write true if the statement is true or false if not.

_______________ 1. Heterogeneous mixtures are uniform all throughout.
Answer: false
_______________ 2. The term hetero– means “same.”
Answer: false
_______________ 3. The composition of a heterogeneous mixture is the
same throughout the mixture.
Answer: false
_______________ 4. The components in a heterogeneous mixture are
distinguishable from one another.
Answer: true
_______________ 5. A solution is a heterogeneous mixture.
Answer: false
_______________ 6. Suspensions have large particles that tend to settle at the
bottom of the container.
Answer: true
_______________ 7. Colloids have larger particles than suspensions.
Answer: false
_______________ 8. Milk is an example of a suspension.
Answer: false
_______________ 9. Oil and water mixture is an example of a colloid.
Answer: false
_______________ 10. The types of colloids are based on the state
of the dispersing medium.
Answer: true

VII. Assignment
Directions: Study at home the Methods of Separating Homogeneous Mixtures

Synchronous Activities:
 The teacher will continue discussing the lesson during the in-person classes

Asynchronous Activities:
 The students need to research about their assignment.

Remarks: The lesson will be continued on the next meeting.
