The prize if you win the competition is prestige of getting invited to other
competitions like the baftas and the Oscars also there can be a cash prize if you
win.
I have chosen this festival as it is fairly local fits with the deadline and also the main
thing is that my production will fit the rules and requirements of entering with ease.
Project concept:
My final idea is a Drama short film on gambling addictions the target
audience should be 16-25 year olds as I found they would be the most
effected by watching a film on this topic and genre.. It will have two
characters one who is the main character Jack and one who is the main
characters lifelong friend and work colleague Bill, Bill starts gambling and tells
Jack about it and then jack starts doing it as well. After this they both lose
Money and Bill does not show up to work and tells Jack to meet him after
work as he has sorted out a poker night. When they are on their way to the
poker night it is revealed that Bill took the money he is using from his girlfriend.
They both go and Jack keeps winning and winning over a few days until Bill
gets distressed and leaves after he has lost so much money. Jack carries on
playing and ignores the fact he is distressed. It is then the next morning and
Jack gets a message whilst he is getting ready saying that Bill has killed
himself and he breaks down. It is then Jack at therapy saying about how
websites like that should not exist. The whole film is being narrated by Jack as
we find out at the end is because he is telling his therapist what happened.
Rules and regulations:
The rules and regulations for this are quite easy to follow. For example, for the
competition rules it must be a short film, animation or documentary that is no
longer than forty minutes. It must not be too explicit or over excessive
swearing and must also be suitable for most ages. It must also include:
- Quality of narrative and production values.
- Independent nature of the production.
As for the rules and regulations of submitting to the deadline of our class it is
basically the same. Can not have excessive violence, excessive swearing and
can also not be flagged as something that someone might think they should
check up on the producer. Basically, everything in moderation and you will easily
be eligible.
