1. In your own opinion, what is the essence of technology? Do you view technology in a
positive, negative, or neutral manner? Why do you have this view?
When technology was initially created in the past, it only served to improve and aid in the labor that
people must perform in order to exist. Since the first computer was created to assist in mathematical
computation, modern technology has advanced significantly. Technology has transformed the way we
live our lives as it has developed toward what we know as of today. Technology makes it more
convenient to communicate with others and to seek out knowledge that a book would typically supply.
Although technology has made great strides in assisting us through carrying out our daily tasks, it has
also increased our dependence on it since technology has mostly supplanted old methods of doing
things by hand. Because of this, depending on how a person uses technology, technology may have
both a positive and a bad side.
2. Do you agree with Heidegger’s view on the essence of technology? Why or why not?
The answer is yes, as technology has never been able to fully resolve social issues; rather, it has only
ever served to facilitate them. However, technology is only a tool that people employ to make tasks
simpler, and to make matters worse, human ethical standards diverge from those technical
improvements.
