1. APPLICATION FORM

Course dates may be changed at the discretion of the centre. All courses are 4-week full-time or 10-week part
time courses. You need to be able to commit yourself entirely to the course for the 4-week courses (i.e., clear
your schedule or any work, family or social commitments) as the courses are very intensive.
The course will run as long as there are sufficient participants. Our courses tend to fill up quite far in advance,
so we recommend applying early. Courses are filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

CELTA Candidate Waiver

Please read this very carefully before you sign and send it to us in a pdf format.

1. I understand that the workload is extremely demanding and that I will be expected to spend a great
deal of time (minimum 20 hours per week) outside the course hours working on my own during the
evenings and weekends.

2. I understand that 100% attendance is a course requirement and that, under no circumstances,
should I be undertaking other studies or working whilst on the CELTA course. Absence is only
permitted in the event of an emergency.

3. I understand that this is not a language course, and I will be expected to research language areas for lesson
preparation and written assignments. I also appreciate that it is not uncommon for most trainees to be
asked to resubmit parts of some written assignments.

4. I appreciate that although I will be expected to work independently, I also need to be a good team
member working in a supportive manner with my peers. Impolite behaviour will not be tolerated.

5. I recognise that a certain standard of presentation and preparation will be expected in my work. I also
understand that all work submitted on the course must be my own, and that any cheating or
plagiarism can result in immediate expulsion from the course.

6. I expect to receive constructive criticism from my tutors and my peers, and that I will be expected to
participate in group feedback and respond to feedback on my teaching practice in a mature and
professional manner. I also understand that I am assessed on my ability to give and receive feedback.

7. I understand that my performance on the course will be monitored throughout and I will be provided
with written records of my progress. If there is a possibility that I will fail the course, I will be notified in
good time as to how to rectify it. I will be given advice based on the Cambridge grading criteria, and it is
my decision to accept or reject this advice. I also realise that the course is graded on my teaching
practice and my written assignments.
8. I understand that the Cambridge ESOL grades are: PASS, PASS ‘B’, PASS ‘A’, and FAIL. I realise that paying
the course fees does not guarantee that I will pass. The majority of candidates worldwide attain a PASS
grade which is a considerable achievement. I appreciate that any previous teaching experience I might
have been no guarantee that I will pass the CELTA course or achieve a higher than Pass grade.

9. If I have any disabilities, illnesses or emotional pressures that will interfere with my performance on this
course, I will inform the course tutors (This information will be treated in the strictest confidence).

10. I understand that the course fee must be paid in full two weeks before the course start date.

Practice (TP) and group TP feedback and all other timetabled interaction with my tutors and peers (for
example, lesson planning and tutorials).

day.
