Students around the world are currently experiencing the extraordinary ripple

effect of the CoVid-19 pandemic as school activities are affected amid the public health
emergency. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students are running into all sorts of
barriers to learning. As a student, my previously learned study strategies and habits are
falling wayside as a result of too much time staying at home and limited time of
supervised and instructed learning. And so, I have to adjust and learn new ways to in
order to adapt.

I researched online and saw a list of study habits which can help students make
it through. I adapted some of the habits listed. First on the list is to always STAY
ORGANIZED. Since I am in a new school, I easily got overwhelmed with the
requirements and the demand of being a junior high school student. So, I made myself
a “reminders notebook” where I write requirements and important dates, such as
submission of outputs and time of my online classes.

Next on the list of study habit is NO TO MULTITASKING. I remember that during

the first day of this school year, modules kept on coming after the other. I tried to work
on every activity on every module as they come and yet I can’t finish any of it. I was
so frustrated that time, I even called my mother and I just cried. That experience
taught me that switching between tasks on different subjects tires me faster and leads
to more errors.

Third, SET A SCHEDULE. Setting a schedule helped me accomplish the first two
habits on my list. My mom helped me make my schedule table. Doing the activities on
my module took most my time. Good thing we included limited screen time in between.
Also, I have time to ride my bike around the town in the afternoon or during weekends.

Last but not the least is COLLABORATING REMOTELY AND STAYING

CONNECTED WITH OTHERS. I am still learning this one. Sometimes, I am too shy to
start a conversation. Luckily, some of my teachers are giving us group works and that
gave me the courage to call or video chat with some of my classmates. We are also
practicing buddy system. That way, my classmates and I have constant communication
with one another.

So far, my new list of study habit is effective. This new normal of education
came at our lives in many forms. It is scary and totally different. But with our hope and
determination, we are able to adjust and we will make it through.
