In the guidelines given by DEPEd on limited face to face modality, think of issues and reflective
conditions that arise from watching the video.
Discuss how the DepEd guidelines on limited face-to-face are going to be possible based on the
video attached.

What hope do you see?

a. For the home
b. For the school
c. For the community

From what I have seen in the video, students, schools, parents, and the
community have difficulty coping with the blended learning (online/modular). We all
know that the main problem is the internet speed of our country. Even I have the same
problem in terms of coping with the discussion. Sometimes I get disconnected from the
class, sometimes I cannot even join the class and sometimes I cannot hear everyone.
Another point is that some students are not privileged to own a gadget/device for online
learning. It is very alarming —how can they learn, especially at their young age, without
the guidance of their teachers? In addition, some teachers are not fond of technology
because they are used to the traditional ways and same as the parents. Some do not
have a background or content knowledge to facilitate or teach their child because of
several factors like lack of education and environmental factors that could hinder one's
learning in this modality. With this, I can see that these three important environmental
factors of a learner should work cooperatively in order to make learning engaging and
efficient.
Gladly, the Department of Education (DepEd) decided to open the limited face-
to-face modality for the students during this pandemic times. It opens an opportunity for
the learners to be motivated to learn and engaged with the curriculum with help of the
three environmental factors. However, in order to make that instruction possible, the
DepEd has its guideline for the health and safety protocol to avoid the widespread of
COVID-19. We know that these young learners are vulnerable to the disease. Hence,
parents, school administrators, teachers, and the community should work hand in hand
by following the protocol. Another thing, aside from the protocols, I think this modality,
the limited face-to-face is effective because of its flexibility. According to the guideline
proposed by the DepEd, students will have a limited number of hours and days to
attend school every week. Thus, the other days left in a week are intended for
asynchronous learning, based on what I have understood in the memorandum. In
addition, this is an opportunity for teachers to be flexible, creative and look for
interventions to make engaging learning procedures and extend their love and affection
to their students. I think this is the perfect time to connect with home, school, and the
community by being updated to the present protocol and parents to work collaboratively
with the teachers for students' safe, fun, and engaging lifelong learning. For schools, I
hope that they would be flexible enough to make revisions in their curriculum as we
have limited movements, especially in an early childhood setup. Also I believe that the
parents, school, and the community will be hands-on to cater to the changing needs of
the learners since the situation keeps on changing. So these three environmental
factors need to support the students' physical, mental, and emotional needs to cope
with the new normal.
