Question 1:
Calculate the materials and cost for 25 cu m of concrete of following proportions
I. 1: 2: 4
II. 1: 3: 6
III. 1: 4: 8
Coarse aggregate = Rs 300 per cu m
Sand = Rs 150 per cu m
Cement = 1000 per bag (CLO 2), (10).
Solution:
Volume of wet concrete = 25 m3
Volume of dry concrete = 25 m3 * 1.54
= 38.5 m3
(a) 1:2:4
Sum of proportions = 1+2+4 = 7
CEMENT:
= Rs. 158,000
SAND:
= Rs. 1650
COARSE AGGREGATE:
= Rs. 6600
Total material cost = Rs. 166,250
(b) 1:3:6
Sum of proportions = 1+3+6 = 10
CEMENT:
= Rs. 110,000
SAND:
COARSE AGGREGATE:
= Rs. 6930
(c) 1:4:8
CEMENT:
= Rs. 85,000
SAND:
COARSE AGGREGATE:
= Rs. 7107
Question 2:
A room has a clear dimension of 3.5m x 7.5m. It has an R.C.C slab as shown in figure 1. Calculate
steel in kg for given slab and prepare bar bending schedule. (CLO 2),
(10)
Solution:
Steel in slab:
Main Bars:
= 4.004 m
= 112.112 m
Bent Up Bars:
= 0.068 m
= 4.0652 m
= 26.2 ≈ 27 bars
= 109.7604 m
Distribution Bars:
= 7.932 m
Bottom layer:
= 182.436 m
Top layer:
= 10 bars
= 79.32 m
Total Steel:
= 261.756 m
= 7850*221.8724 * (π*0.0122/4)
=196.98 kg
= 7850*261.756* (π*0.0062/4)
= 58.1 kg
