Administration of Instrument

An approval letter from the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences was
obtained prior to starting the data gathering. The Barangays near Malaybalay City in
Bukidnon were the recipients of the letter and they were required the sign the
endorsement as their approval. Upon approval, the researchers asked for a list of the
parents whose child is a Bukidnon State University student studying Bachelor of Arts
in Social Science and currently in their second year. The participants were then asked
to agree on a timetable for data collection. The researchers personally visited the
participants in their respective barangays after finalizing the schedule.

Ethical Consideration
Before the instrument was administered, free and prior informed consent
was obtained from the participants. With the survey questionnaire, an informed
consent form was included. The information sheet and certificate of consent were
both included in the informed consent form.
The information sheet provided details about the following topics: the
purpose of the study, the rationale behind the participants’ selection, the voluntary
nature of their participation in data collection, the study’s protocols and procedures,
the duration of the study, its advantages and the participant’s rights to decline or
withdraw from the study.
To ensure confidentiality, participants were given the option of writing their
names on the survey questionnaire or not in order to protect their identity and
maintain anonymity. All the information gathered from the data collection process
would also remain confidential.

Treatment of Data
The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation in order
to determine the extent of parental involvement in online learning. Frequency count
and ranking were used to gauge how much parents were participating in their child’s
online education. The analysis in problems 1 and 2 was used to propose
sustainability mechanisms.
