Learning Objective 1.1 The student will identify the basic components and
functions of human body systems and the importance of
safe practices, positive interpersonal relationships, and
environmental health.

foods and beverages from the five MyPlate food groups
(i.e., fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, dairy).

In this interactive white board activity, the children will touch the board to sort items
and circle to make decisions on activities and food and learn about how having a healthy
diet and exercising helps us grow and makes our bodies strong.
Pedagogy Planning
Activity Throughout this lesson, students will work together in their 4
desk pods. Instructor will begin the lesson in the first 3 slides
creating a discussion of what healthy food options include.
Students will give their ideas of healthy food, and in the 3rd
slide the instructor will explain why different types of healthy
food are important to a growing body.
For slides 4 through 11, student groups will discuss together
what the correct answer is to what the prompt is on the slide
and students will take turns coming up to do what is required
for that slide. For example, on slide 4 students will 1 at a time
drag a healthy food option into the basket, slides 5 through 10
students will 1 at a time circle the healthy food option, and on
slide 11 students will 1 at a time come up and label the food
pyramid.
While on slide 11, the instructor will draw a MyPlate and
explain the difference between MyPlate and the food pyramid.
On slides 12 and 13, instructor will lead a discussion on types
of every day exercise and how exercise is important to a
growing body.
For slides 14 through 17, student groups will discuss together
what the correct answer is to what the prompt is on the slide
and students will take turns coming up to do what is required
for that slide. For example, students will 1 at a time circle what

the healthiest activity is on slides 14 through 16, and 1 at a


time circle the pictures showing exercise.
